When exposed to moisture, bentonite clay expands and forms a dense barrier layer, making it a popular choice for stock ponds, decorative water features, irrigation canals, sewer lagoons, landfills, and cut-off wall applications.
For mixed blanket installation, prepare the pond bed by tilling native soil approximately 3–5 inches deep and removing roots, rocks, vegetation, and debris. Spread PondSeal evenly across the prepared area, thoroughly mix into the tilled soil, lightly dampen, and compact to promote uniform coverage. Fill the pond gradually to minimize erosion of the prepared surface.
Application amounts vary depending on soil permeability and site conditions. General usage guidance ranges from 2–6 lbs per square foot, while mixed blanket installations may use 4–7 lbs per square foot blended into the top 3 inches of native soil. Sandy soils may require additional material.
