I’m a big fan of Korean beauty products, so I was excited to try the Seoul 1988 capsule cream. The cream is a clear gel with yellow vitamin C capsules suspended inside, and the directions explain how to adjust the gel-to-capsule ratio based on your skin type. Unfortunately, when I opened mine, the top layer of capsules had already burst and mixed into the gel, turning it from clear to an opaque yellow. It did come with a small plastic applicator, which was nice since I didn’t have to dip my fingers directly into the jar.Despite the burst capsule issue, the cream itself absorbed quickly, is lightweight, and a small amount was enough to cover my entire face. It left my skin hydrated and soft without feeling sticky, and it added a healthy shine to my usually dull, dry skin without making it oily. There was a light citrus scent that faded quickly after application. Overall, I was disappointed that the capsules burst, but I was impressed with how well it moisturized and how gentle it was on my sensitive skin.

This won me over immediately. The day before this arrived I had been doing to grueling work trying to fix my broken fence and digging out the concrete footing of a fence post, soaking and grating my hands in red clay. Not only did I break a toe during the process, I ripped up both hands pretty badly as you can see in the photo I included. Well, the next day this moisturizer arrived and as usual, I tested it on my hand first to make sure I don’t have any sort of reaction. And in addition to be feeling incredibly lightweight despite its gel texture, I experienced ZERO burning. So I then applied it to the entirety of my hand, covering all the ugly cuts and scrapes and there was absolutely zero reaction. Zero stinging. Zero burning. Zero irritation. Instead it felt smoothing and offered hydrating and protection. A few hours later and my hand looked less red and angry!If I can put this on skin that badly scratched and irritated with no issue then I feel confident that it’s something I can use on my face!The ingredients are very decent, no surprise there. I’ve tried several products from K Secret and have been impressed. There’s no fragrance here. There are a few essential oils which I often worry about but am now wondering if my fear of them is unnecessary. When I say I felt nothing when I put this on open cuts I’m not exaggerating.This also absorbed very well BTW! I would have thought a gel would leave a greasy looking finish but it does not!I added a few photos including one of my hand a while after trying this. You can see how damaged my skin is yet believe it or not, it looks worlds better here after the moisturizer helped with the dehydration and somehow diminished a lot of the redness and irritation. And while this isn’t the purpose of this product, it earned my trust for being so gentle and soothing.
