Wow, I got the real thing. Saffron was so delicious and tasteful. It goes well with so many foods. It came with a very nice presentation. Could give this as a gift or use it for your own cooking. Definitely when I run out would buy more.

I was a bit hesitant about this saffron due to the amount it came with and the low cost. When infused in water, the water turns to the expected gold hue. The smell of the saffron was strong and a bit earthy, like wet dirt. They look how I’d expect saffron to look with its iconic marroony red tone. It did feel like the threads are not super consistent in quality from one another just from testing, but overall they are fine. They look and smell correct. The taste was also good in some rice.

I pride myself on how the food I cook looks and tastes. I love cooking for others and bringing them some joy through the magic of delicious food!One of my favorites is Persian food. My joojeh kebab is always a hit, so is my basmati rice - both of which include saffron. I also use it when I make koobideh kebab.I've used this saffron in all 3 of those dishes and it has been great each time. The flavor is rich and slightly sweet with a very unique floral aroma.I highly recommend you try making pretty much any middle-eastern or Mediterranean dish with saffron in it - you likely won't be disappointed! I can also easily recommend this saffron as the star of the show. I know its also used for tea and even in ice cream!

Right when I opened it, I could smell that rich, floral aroma—definitely a sign of good quality saffron. I’ve used it for cooking rice and making tea, and the color it produces is gorgeous deep golden and evenly distributed. The flavor is smooth and aromatic without being overpowering. This stuff smells, tastes, and looks like real saffron. I ordered it thinking it would be a synthetic saffron since it's called Beyond Saffron, like Beyond Meat, but from all I can see, it is just real saffron threads that you're getting. I used mine in a saffron risotto topped with seared scallops, and the flavor was great! With saffron, you only need to use a tiny amount to get the flavor profile you want, so use it sparingly. This 2.0g tin should last you quite a bit if you aren't cooking paella or risotto regularly. This is a great price for some saffron threads that are hard to come by, so pick it up!

However, I noticed that some threads lost their color quickly and turned white, which suggests the saffron is not of high grade and may be mixed with other material. The flavor and aroma were also noticeably weaker compared to higher-quality saffron I’ve tried. Additionally, the flower shown in the product image is not a saffron crocus, which raises further concerns about the product's authenticity and presentation.

I followed instructions for saffron and ground it into a powder and steeped it like a tea. Then poured into rice. It was a deep golden color which gave the rice a nice yellowish hue.As for the taste I really couldn't find the taste. Tasting straight from the steeped concoction it has a somewhat rubber-like smell, but in a good way. And wastes sort of Earthy.It was very easy to use, you don't need to be a pro chef to use this spice, any cook of any level can use it.For $16 you get a small tin of the spice, I think that's a good value considering how expensive saffron is.

I have some bomba rice lying around and wanted to make it into paella rice which uses saffron. This saffron is real and authentic, a necessity for Spanish paella rice so I'm very happy with it. It smells strong, aromatic, and earthy. Ran through 3 tests and the results show that it's authentic, real saffron. First, I rubbed a few strands between my fingers and it turned my fingers yellow. Next, I chewed on a few strands and spit it out on tissue paper, rubbed it, and it also turned yellow. Lastly, I dropped a few strands in water and it turned yellow in about 5 minutes so it's not fake and wasn't dyed red.I've never had authentic Paella rice before so I'm not sure how it truly should taste like, but mine turned out delicious. I followed a recipe from the "Tastes Better From Scratch" blog and highly recommend it. I also weighed this saffron and it came to 2.01 grams (zeroed out the tin) which is accurate! You'll be getting your money's worth of raw saffron.
