It is hard to tell in the pictures, but the whisk is plastic resin in this set marked "light yellow" while the other two utensils are wood, I assume bamboo. The light yellow is one of the less expensive options, and in the pictures on the ad, I could not tell it was plastic. It does not produce the same amount of froth to me that a bamboo with more tines does. You may disagree, but I have always felt bamboo imparts a certain flavor/froth.It also states in the ad somewhere, or did at the time, that this was not just for the utensils: "It is not only replacement accessories for matcha kit but also a matcha starter set"- so I thought it came with matcha from this brand, which admittedly, I thought odd for the price, but I thought perhaps just a single serving so you could test their matcha and try the whisk set. However, this is indeed just the whisk set. It is boxed well, the whisk is inside a white paper box and then the bamboo scoop and spoon are inside the cardboard box within the box.So PP Resin- it is BPA free, so it's not a health risk, but I don't know, I expect a matcha whisk to be bamboo. It produces a better matcha, a better froth, flavor and all around experience in my opinion. Everyone can do how they prefer, of course.If you don't mind a matcha whisk being resin then that is not a problem for you and this is a nice inexpensive whisk kit for you.

Disclaimer, I am no means a matcha expert or avid tea drinker, but this set is lovely all the same. I personally loved the packaging and the appearance of the tools provided. The bamboo had a nice feel to it and it was comfortable for me to use. Though my matcha whisking skills are absolute garbage, it wasn't terribly hard to use this whisk to get a good cup made, much easier then my attempts with a normal whisk at any rate. Durability wise, the bamboo is flexible and sturdy from what I can tell, but I wouldn't use the whisk so firmly that it frays the individual whisk pieces either, this isn't exactly made of metal after all. Overall a good product and fantastic gift.

I was looking for a bamboo or wood whisk, this seemed to fit the bill. It is a little bit smaller than expected, but it does clean up nicely and does a great job The additional accessories that come with it are a bit odd, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them!

I’ve never owned one of these fancy matcha set whisks & scoopers before, but this bamboo set in “purple” bamboo color looks dainty and cool. The whisk comes protected in a hard cylindrical tube but the tiny scoop comes separately - both packaged in another box. Excited to use it. The whisk part is verrrrryyyyy delicate. Read the company’s great write up about it if you’re a novice & know that with heavy use you need to expect to replace your set. Would gift this set to other serious matcha lovers.

I thought this would be a normal sized matcha whisk head on an extra long handle. Instead it is a smaller head on a slightly longer handle.The unusual handle length does allow fir a different grip and whisking style, and if held at the end like a normal whisk this results in faster whisking. This produces an average amount of foam as the whisk has far fewer tines than normal. I counted forty two tines. The average lower end matcha whisk has seventy six, and high end ones have up to one hundred and twenty.The look is nice and I like the bamboo rest and long handled scoop. The lack of tines does mean that thus will not be my go to matcha whisk, but I may use it for a change of pace on occasion.

I am so pleased with this set! I've been needing to upgrade from a cheaper entry-level whisk, now that I know I do like making matcha lattes for myself, and this is definitely that. I'm so glad I got the purple-toned darker wood set - it's beautiful! The diameter/head of this one is smaller than my other, but it works great. Love it.
