I have never used a "selfie stick" of any kind until now. It feels well balanced extended with nothing on it. The size is a comfortable grip even for a smaller hand.I used this today with virtually no preparation. My goal was to ride an Electric Unicycle utilizing my sport cam on my helmet. At the end of the trail, I would move the sport cam to this selfie stick. I have never attempted this and expected difficulty with both the cam (on/off, aim, view) and this stick (balance, aim, movement) and it was the worst of all expected except for THIS ONE ITEM.When I got to the point for the switch, I moved the cam and tried to record but the card was full. The included card was not recording or recorded a corrupted file that filled it. I checked the card on a computer . A 512 GB card was included. I cleared it, formatted it (on cam) and tried the trip again. A few balance issues. poor cam direction and the general cam problem of view shown... Nothing I am willing to show here.None of it the fault of this product. It performed exceptionally for what I wanted it for. ( live EUC recording over a couple miles) Even with the extra weight of the cam and shell on the end, it was not "too" weighty and off balance. Something I could learn to control with use. The extension / retraction was smooth also performed while riding with no issues. There is room for two hands on the base shaft. It felt good in the hand and is as responsive a long stick with a camera on the end can probably feel. I might actually like a touch more weight at the far end of the base.I have not utilized the stand at this point as it was not an intended use. I did extend the legs and found the deployment smooth, and the resulting stand appeared sufficient. I did not add a cam / phone or extend the stick. I suspect it will perform well as a stand due to its rigidity.

Lightweight, very portable, high quality, useful tripod.I'm disabled and use a rollator (a walker with 4 wheels) to get around, even at home. I wanted a tripod light and small enough to fit in the rollator pouch when I am making videos at home.This is almost perfect.It extends to 59 inches which is tall enough to put the lenses of the cameras I use almost at eye level on the rare occasions when I shoot myself standing up. It collapses to 11.4 inches, fitting very neatly into the storage bag of my rollator.The tripod has seven sections and you can set the length as you please without having to bother with latches of any kind. The vendor doesn't state what the payload is, but does say it is intended for action cameras and goes further to claim it will serve as an invisible selfie stick for Insta360 X series cameras.The top of the tripod has a 1/4-20 tripod screw and a GoPro style adapter is included.The tripod legs are easily opened and have a 17 inch footprint on the ground which is sufficient for stability on level ground.The tripod main shaft appears to be aluminum and the legs are strong plastic. Workmanship is very high.With the tripod legs closed, this is also an excellent selfie stick, weighing just shy of 11 ounces.This is really a very nice piece of work. It doesn't have a built-in Bluetooth remote, but that's no big deal.'Jerry

I'm a little disappointed in this tripod/selfie stick. Smallrig makes good stuff, but this is no better than cheaper competitors' versions. The telescopic extension is good and the button release for the legs works well, but the problem is the lack of a Bluetooth remote. Clearly they aren't interested in phone users, focusing on action cameras. My issue with that use is that this is plastic; to me, an action camera tripod would be metal or denser plastic. It feels flimsy for something meant for sports.A bit of a let down.

Don't have a lot of Smallrig gear, but am yet to get one that isn't well designed and well made. This stick is no exception. While some of their gear can be a bit pricey, at $22, even the price is reasonable on this bit of kit.Main handle is about 11" and extended overall is about 58". The telescoping shafts seem to be made of aluminum. The friction of the telescoping action, is stiff enough to stay in place and still easy enough to adjust the length. The tripod legs have a springloaded locking mechanism which prevents pinching should they inadvertantly open slightly and then close on the inside flesh of your hand or fingers. Not sure which flavor the plastic is, but due to the fact that is makes that grinding sound when slicing a tiny sliver off with a sharp knife, it almost certainly is glass fiber reinforced. The texture of the handles feels nice in the hand. The action cam mount is almost certainly GFR plastic as well and comes with a long screw which makes for easier mounting of the camera. The shaft is quite rigid until you get it past the two skinniest tubes of the telescope. Even then, it's far from flimsy. Not exactly light weight at 11.3oz, but for all you get and the quality of craftsmanship, this is a no brainer. Buy with confidence. This camera stick is a winner.

There's no plastic packaging at all. It comes in a simple box, with padded paper for packaging. Very simple, but it did a great job of protecting it.The next thing I noticed was the quality of the tripod. It's clearly well made and feels weighty, but not overly heavy. It's just a satisfying thing to hold. The legs fold completely flat into the 'stick', and clip in with a very satisfying click. Then the stick extends telescopically in sections and is firm but very smooth. At full extension, you have a full sized tripod that feels very stable, and there's hardly any flex either. I had no problem using it as a selfie-stick at full extension with an action cam on the other end. It all just feels very secure.I've tried plenty of similar tripod/selfie sticks in the past, but this has great quality and what I think is exceptional value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

I've used a fair few selfie sticks in my time, but the SMALLRIG 59" Selfie Stick Tripod is hands down the most confidence-inspiring. It's rock-solid, easy to set up, and doesn't wobble about like a drunk flamingo. Whether I'm using it with the Insta360 or a GoPro, the thing works quietly and reliably. Packs down nicely too, so no faff when chucking it in a rucksack. No complaints at all from me.
