I thought that was strange but because it was so few everyday, I would just squash them throughout the day and carry on. This Summer it's happening again only there seems to be more ants. Last year it was maybe 3 or 4 ants a day but this year it's like 5 or 10. They're not over running my bathroom but they shouldn't be there!We do not use pesticides in the house because of the dogs and cat but we do use it outside so I'm not sure how the little buggers are getting in but I wanted it to stop! I placed one pouch in the cabinet under the sink and one pouch behind the toilet where the dogs can't reach it and waited.They've been there for exactly 2 days and in those 2 days I have not seen any ants! It says they should be replaced every 30-60 days so one box will definitely get me through the summer months and because I live on a larger property in an arid state that has black widows, I'm going to put them around the back patio as well to keep them away.I also read that peppermint oil keeps mice and rats away and we've had roof rats before so if they try to come back, I'll use these as my first line of defense.I love that they are pet safe and honestly, I don't think the dogs like the scent so they haven't tried to go near them but if they do I don't need to worry. I find the scent pleasant enough and while it's not overpowering, I can smell it when I walk in the bathroom.The packaging is great too. Each of the 24 little scent packs comes sealed individually so you can use as many or as few as you like without compromising the rest of them. There's little velvet pouches that you put the packs in and there's a pouch for every pack so you can just toss the whole thing out when they are no longer useful. You could honestly even reuse the pouches to put jewelry and little trinkets and knick knacks in because they look nice. I know I've gotten a necklace or two in a little velvet pouch like these.I'm happy these were given to me to provided my honest and unbiased review and I'm happy to say I would recommend these if you need to repel spiders and ants and maybe even a few other unwanted critters.

The initial scent of these deterrent packets is strong. I would recommend following the instructions to wear gloves while using. I placed them around the outer edge of our garden to keep the bugs away - they appear to be working. The instructions are not clear. The come with a green cloth bag that I am assuming suppose to hold the packet of herbs and oils but it seems odd to leave this insulated cloth packet out in the dirt or around the exterior of your home. The scent has diminished a bit since a week has passed. I am hoping they last longer than a week - we will see and I may edit this post if they fail to last at least a month.

UPDATE: Well, I have had two of these on my counter for the last few weeks, and I thought I should come on and tell you what I have learned, which is that this insect control method is FANTASTIC!!!The first day, I put out one pouch near where I thought the tiny ants were emerging, and bingo! they seemed to disappear. Two days later, I found 2 ants, in a different spot, and put out the second pouch. Like I said, it has now been a couple of weeks, and I have not seen a SINGLE tiny ant since the second pouch. My counter is about 20' long: and not one tiny ant. The pets don't even know they are there; they are no trouble to have around, and they are pesticide free! I love these things, and plan to use nothing else in the future. Just wanted you all to know.These are unusual. But frankly, I was sick of spraying heaven knows what in the kitchen, on counters, etc. We have teeny tiny ants. Ants so small you really only see them when they move. I would tell you what we call them in Texas, except that might get this review flagged.Anyway, I was desperate to try an alternative to chemical pesticides. And when I saw this, I snapped it up. The first thing to notice when you open the box is the plush bags. That threw me for a minute; but then I opened the seal of the packet, and understood. Strong is an understatement. Not a bad strong, in the sense of how chemicals smell, but strong with mint. Do not take a deep breath of it. It is that intense.So, a little doubtful, I put one packet in the plush bag, and set it right behind my sink. The next day, I found 2 more ants, all the way down at the other end of the counter. I killed them right away, but I wish I hadn't, because I would have liked to have seen how they reacted. But I put a second pouch down at that end.Been two more days, and I haven't seen a single ant. Now, I will have to see how long this magic lasts (i.e. how long the potency lasts), but I am genuinely pleased so far. Not a chemical smell to be detected. Very nice.My one drawback? Using those little plush bags. They seem like they ought to be holding jewelry, or something, not an ant destroyer. I'll get over it.I will update when I find out how long the treatment lasts in a real life situation.

I got these repellent pouches to deter ants, which tend to be a problem for us during the summer as they come in through our windows. The pouches are filled with strong peppermint and you place them in a green velvet bag to keep the bag from spilling and presumably to help the scent linger longer. I noticed that there were fewer ants a day after I placed these on my window sill. I like that it's a non-toxic option for areas where there are a moderate number of pests - if there was a heavy infestation, I'm not sure this would suffice.
