It charged up and was very easy to use the first time around. It has two different power settings so I was able to put it on the lowest one and it was quiet enough that it didn’t bother him too much. It has a variety of different attachments for different areas. Although I didn’t try all of them out, the one that I used worked great for the sides of his face and around his ears. He is an elderly pug, so he is not the easiest to work with anymore, but this made it quick and easy. I used it for about 20 minutes straight and the battery was still at full power so this could likely be used much longer with no issues. The material feels sturdy and high-quality so it should last a long time.

We have two older dachshunds whose foot hair grows as fast and thick as an old man's ear hair, and a long hair dachshund that basically has hair boots, so we have tried many trimmers. These were one of the best that we have tried so far. Most of the small trimmers that we have used have not been powerful or sharp enough to get through the thick hair on our long haired dachshund. Because of this we have been using the big high powered plug in grooming sheers. While this works for our long hair it is a bit much for our two short haired babies who just have a few scraggly hairs to trim. That is why I was so happy that these worked so well on all their paws. I did take off one star because the trimmers did still struggle in the thicker hair but not to the point where it was a problem or pulling her hair. We just had to be a bit more patient!! As an added bonus the trimmers come with a little comb to hold the hair out while you trim it. I found this especially helpful since the hair can get matted down from walking. Overall I would recommend these trimmers for at least small dogs. They are comfortable to hold, easy to use, quiet, have a handy light that lets you see what you are doing, and they work well for their size.

I confess, I did not get this for my dog. I'd been looking for a "safe" clipper that wouldn't grab sensitive skin when I do near my ears and arms. No matter how gently I go or how smooth something feels, I always end up with scratched up skin in those areas with regular clippers. This gentle touch and the big light made me figure I should give it a try. It charged in very little time. The ceramic blades do indeed have a light touch. The bright light is a huge plus. And I do like that the battery indicator is numeric instead of little guide bars. I love it. And yes, once I was done testing it on myself, I went ahead and hit my mother's little Yorkie with them since her ears were getting out of control. Worked great on both of us!

This is a nice little trimmer for detailed work (interdigital/around the ears/etc) but the noise level was disappointing. I practice FearFree techniques at work, so unfortunately these are too loud for me to use on my patients. Also disappointing was unboxing the items to find that the bag they included has a hole/tear in it. Bummer…PROS: has a bright light, very impressive battery life, 2 different speeds, single button control, compact, comes with a charger/other tools and a small bag to keep it all in, blade is sharp and cuts pretty well, easy to useCons: ITS LOUD… not what you want to use on fearful/stressed out pets, I also dislike that you have to push the button twice to turn it off because the second level is even louder which made my dogs even more stressed

The media could not be loaded. I ordered this without reading the full description. I thought I was getting a groomer for private areas (underarms, bikini, etc). I ended up using it on myself and I can attest that it is very gentle but effective. I intentionally allowed it to touch my skin and I was not cut. The light is very bright and likely useful for hard to see areas. There are two settings low and high. At the high setting the buzz is a bit louder. Not sure how animals would respond.

There's nothing wrong with this handy trimmer if you are working with a small pet. I have very large dogs (over 100 pounds with long silky hair) that need the fur on their paw pads trimmed regularly. This trimmer is not good for that. The light makes it really easy to see what I'm doing but the trimmer itself just can't handle a lot of fur before becoming buried in fur. What it is good for is doing touch ups on ears. I'm also really hoping that it will do a good job shaving off hair when there's an injury that I can't see buried in the fur. I'm going to keep it charged for emergencies.If you have a small dog or puppy, this thing is really nice. It does cut hair just fine. Just not the amount I need. The light is bright and focused right on the action area. The noise of it doesn't seem to bother my dogs at all. Charging is fast and it holds a charge well. It came with a little bit of clipper oil, too, which is very nice, and a fine comb. The soft fabric case is perfect to keep everything together.
