5.0 out of 5 stars Great price and good quality
Great price on this well made transfer box. Installation was fairly simple but not easy as I had to drill through brick and route a power wire through my attic and down an inside wall into the closet where my breaker box is located. Yours may be easier to access. You will need some 10/3 with ground or larger wire to connect to the generator input box. If you cannot use a mechanical lockout, then this is what you need to make a safe and legal generator hookup. If you are not comfortable with the installation you should get a professional to install it for you. Still need to trim out box in photo.
4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install.
This went in without any problems. I have a finished basement so extra care was needed to mount the switch ,but I installed it under the circuit box which provided better space to run wires. The directions were simple and clear and anyone with basic skills and knowledge of electric circuits could do this. I would, however, recommend using an electrician if you are at all nervous or apprehensive about doing it yourself.
2.0 out of 5 stars Could be better
This box is huge and wires are kind of a mess to deal with. Decent value but will take some time sorting out.
1.0 out of 5 stars Defective product, evasive customer service
I don't give 1 star for just a bad product - for me, 1 star requires a bad product AND a bad customer service response. I spent a day installing this system and trying to figure out what I was doing wrong because two of the circuits didn't work. Eventually I got a professional electrician who verified I had installed it correctly - the problem was that two of the breakers were defective. He also told me about a simpler and more effective system - look up "interlock kit." I filled out a Vevor return ticket, with the idea that this was a way to, you know, RETURN a defective product for a refund. There followed almost three weeks of evasive messages from Vevor with the eventual "solution" that they would send me parts to fix the defective unit they sent me. I have already wasted a day of my life on this defective product and have zero interest in wasting more time on it. I installed the interlock kit which is about the same price, meets code, and took a fraction of the time to install. I am giving up on the $ I spent on this unit - clearly Vevor is not going to take responsibility. In the future I will only buy Vevor products if they are simple and inexpensive enough that I will accept the risk of a defective product without recourse. Also, be aware, the Vevor website apparently rejects negative reviews.
1.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to install.
The product description says 'PreWired,' but the wiring was a complete mess—no clear labels or proper instructions. The manual had vague diagrams, and the NEMA L14-30p inlet compatibility was not well explained. As a DIYer, I spent hours trying to figure it out, and even then, I wasn’t sure if I connected it correctly. Bolo should require sellers to provide proper installation guides or videos.
1.0 out of 5 stars The seals around the ports are weak!!
The seals around the ports are weak, and condensation builds up easily. Now I have to cover it with a tarp every time it rains—completely defeats the purpose!
1.0 out of 5 stars Not waterproof!
After two weeks of use in the rainy season, condensation water stains appeared inside the switch. Although the sealing of the shell is acceptable, water seepage is obvious at the interface. As an outdoor emergency equipment, this quality is disappointing. I hope to improve the sealing process or provide waterproof accessories. "
