The inputs are recessed from the outer edge, making it difficult to get to them after wall mounting. However, none are facing back this time around. All are facing toward the outer edge.Out of the box, there was the typical Google TV setup followed by one system update (P0205 to P0415) and 2 remote updates. There are only 3 HDMI inputs this time around, but they are ALL 4K/165Hz though. It seems to be running Android 14 (from 12) with a much later build and security patch level. Google TV seems to be about the same or slightly snapper than the U8N. Storage still 20GB (minus system use, formatting, etc.) Within all the TV menus, there are additional settings added, some moved and others re-arranged compared to the U8N. One I like is a speed test within the Network & Internet settings for example. There is a Quick Tab Tools option on the bottom menu that I think is new, etc. With this TV, I’m just connecting gaming consoles via HDMI (Xbox, PlayStation & Switch 2 one day) and an HDTV antenna for one local channel for storm updates. I’m NOT using WIFI, eARC, PC connection, Fire TV Cube, Apple TV, etc. I hope to try the USB-C input on the side at some point as a display input.First impressions of image quality: little to no vignetting in the corners (way less than the U8N); less Blooming thanks to the additional zones and tech; SDR and all HDR looked great to me with little to no setting changes. Gradients look fine for an 8-Bit FRC display. Motion smoothing is great, but I still personally prefer it off. Motion overall seems on par with the U8N: again, with no setting changes. As such, I must note that there are more image settings (especially Intelligent and AI) than the U8N. Console gaming wise, everything is great in every mode (all Xbox and PlayStation resolutions, refresh rates, etc. are fully supported). I still really like the Game Bar just like U8N. This time around there are themes that can be set to automatically change for PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. The 4.1.2 sound is OK. I don’t use soundbars, but I think anyone who does will continue to do so with the TV – or use a surround sound system. I’m still experimenting with the sound settings. I do use the room acoustics setting like on the U8N by using the remote’s mic. More sound options than the U8N and certainly a different sound right out of the box.
5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Visuals and Sound with Feature-Rich Experience, Minor Adjustments Needed
As a user upgrading to the Hisense 55" U8 Series Min-LED TV (2025 model), the first things that stood out were the brightness and contrast. The Mini-LED Pro tech really delivers on peak brightness, and the local dimming helps create more depth in darker scenes. The QLED color reproduction is also impressive, offering vibrant and sharp visuals across different types of content.Gaming performance is another highlight. The native 165Hz panel with VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and low latency features make it a solid choice for fast-paced gaming. The Game Mode Ultra, along with the on-screen Game Bar, adds convenience for gamers who like to tweak settings quickly. The built-in 4.1.2 surround sound system delivers good immersion for movies and sports, with clear separation and depth in the audio, especially the up-firing speakers for overhead effects. Dolby Vision IQ and Atmos support make a noticeable difference in both visuals and audio for supported content. The Hi-View AI Engine seems to work well for automatic picture and sound tuning, though at times the enhancements can feel a bit too aggressive depending on the content. Fortunately, this can be adjusted in the settings.Google TV integration is smooth and provides a lot of streaming options, though the initial setup process could be a bit more intuitive for new users. The Anti-Reflection Pro coating helps reduce glare, but some reflections are still visible in very bright rooms.Overall, the TV packs a lot of premium features and performs well in both entertainment and gaming scenarios. A few UI refinements and more fine-tuning options for AI enhancements would make the experience even better.
5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazingly Spectacular TV to be had!👍👌
This a absolutely spectacular TV! I upgraded from the hisense u7g (2021) and this is the best TV I've owned. The picture is amazing, almost oled quality is what a few YouTubers have said. I have never owned an oled cause they are pricey. Speaking of prices this is a great price for what you get. It could easily cost $300 or more for what you get, but hisense treats their customers right and does not price gouge us imo. The sound is way better than previous models but a good quality sound bar with a sub is still better. A few years from now the sound will probably rival good bars out there. I would highly recommend anyone interested in getting one of these to try it, you will are going to like the way it looks I guarantee it...👍 If for some reason not just send it back but let me know cause I would like the discount "like new" price it will be and get it myself!🤣🤣 oh gaming is great Xbox wise at least, wifi is great no issues no lagging, function is great easy to figure out, just a great solid TV for anyone to enjoy!
5.0 out of 5 stars Very High Quality For The Price
I owned the Sony a95l my other place, and it is incomparably the best TV I've ever owned or seen. I bought the Hisense for an apartment I rented for grandchild visits. It is extremely good, and sound- 4.4.1 may be better than the Sony. Terrific value at the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars will be prefect tv with wider stand
This TV is seriously impressive. Watching movies on it feels like being in a theater-the picture is super sharp, bright, and colorful. The built-in speakers are surprisingly powerful, with deep bass that really adds to the experience. you don't even need a soundbar. One thing i didn't love is the stand. it's centered and puts too much weight in the middle so it's not great for glass tv stand. I'd recommend mounting it or using a sturdy surface. Overall, it's an awesome Tv great for movies, gaming and everyday use. i am happy with it!
2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Having read the great reviews I purchased this instead of the comparable Samsung, as a second tv. I own a Samsung and should have stuck with it. I found the reflection from the Hisense screen of to be too much during day. Also i didn’t like the quality of the picture as much overall. I also found the assembly directions to be unclear. If I had it to do over again I’d buy a similarly priced Samsung
