I have very thick and coarse hair so it's perfect. The only downside is that it makes my hair very sticky but I guess that comes with the territory with clays. NO SMELL, which is the biggest plus. I'm tired of these nasty cologne smelling hair products, so it regains the point I would have taken away for the stickiness.

We've worked with a few of these type of products in my teenage son's super thick hair and this one is our favorite. It's a large jar so it will go far and it's very workable since it's water-based and you can thin it out by adding more water in your palm and working it through your fingers to apply to the hair evenly. I love that this one is not super sticky on it's own. I can't stand when I use these types of products in his hair and he's in pain because I'm pulling out his hair with the sticky product isn't going into his hair evenly. This one does not give me that issue and so it makes styling his hair so much more hassle-free and quick. The other component that is important to us is that it doesn't have a strong scent. My son will not use anything with a strong scent. As a woman, I think the scent is somewhat gender neutral as it doesn't wreak of that cologne smell. It washes off your hands easily after you are done styling and you aren't left feeling sticky or greasy. I recommend this product if you are looking for something new to try.

On my hair and kiddos hair, it was super drying, even with moisturising leave-ins, and irritated my scalp in places.On my other half's hair, it fared better, as it absorbed excess oil, though he wasn't fond of the texture.I have been given this product and tested it for review. All opinions are mine.

Disclaimer. I took an early a.m. shower and let my hair dry which literally puts it at its worst starting position for styling. I rubbed in the clay matte pomade. To me it looks natural, but if you touch it, you know it is there. I literally cannot run my fingers through my hair, and my hair itself feels clumped and sticky. It does hold very well and I don’t anticipate that my hair style will be going anywhere today, but I personally do not enjoy the feel of this product. It is easy easy to apply and I think will last a long time. The scent is nice and subtle, but just adding that little bit makes my hair feel like I’ve sprayed a ton of hairspray into it. So if that’s what you want …something that’s going to make your hair not move once you put it in the style you want so it’s stays all day, then this product is for you.

My husband uses this clay to mold his curls, and even though it’s a matte product, his hair still retains a slight shine, even when followed by a texture powder. Unlike other matte clays he’s tried, this one doesn’t leave his hair looking dull. He’s found that a little goes a long way, which helps maintain a subtle shine and a natural look. Despite using only a small amount, it holds his style firmly throughout the day. We’re really impressed with this matte finish clay and highly recommend it!

If you like to be able to put something into your hair and know that it will not come out until the barber cuts it out of your hair, then this is the product for you. It actually styles pretty well. But, I have washed and conditioned and washed and conditioned, and my hair still feels like a handful of straw.
