Worst water scooter ever!

Not quite sure how an adult would use this unless they were floating on a paddle board (I believe a paddle board attachment can be purchased so that would be neat to try). It works really well for young kids but because it's heavy, make sure it is secured to a flotation device. If they let go, it is sinking and gone. And of course, do NOT tie it to the kid themselves. It actually ran for quite a while which was great to see. Will post video later once we get a 2nd chance at using it.

Power connections and charger are for a British system. I purchased adapters to convert to US 120v connections. Buyer beware of the power source connections.

My family and I go to Hawaii at least once a year for a week. We love snorkeling and taking videos and photos. Until now, I have done it all with snorkel, mask, and fins while using a short boom to carry my GoPro and get closer shots of fish and turtles. This year, I had a chance to check out this scooter on a couple beaches on Maui near Kaanapali. It worked out pretty well, but has limitations. That said, I used it every day for a week and have the following observations:Pros:1. Helps keep my camera more stabilized while shooting video because it keeps me from needing to move my hands and feet to propel myself or stay in place. I can just run the scooter instead.2. It fits in my luggage and the battery is just under the TSA limit for LiIon battery capacity. It is just under 100wh capacity. I still need to carry it in my carry on instead of checked baggage. I would have to do some gyrations to bring it on an airplane if it had higher capacity.3. It propels me about 20% faster than if I was swimming at a comfortable speed. If I kick with my fins and turn the scooter on high, I can pass my 32 year old son. Having the slight boost comes in handy now that I'm 70yo.4. I ran it for about an hour a day for five days and it did not have any issues. I didn't run out of charge while snorkeling since I recharged it every night.5. It is sturdy enough for what it is - a limited use aid, not a James Bond super gadget to speed along.6. Comes with a camera mount, GoPro style mount and a bracket to mount it to the bottom of some paddle boards. If you do this, you also take off the control grip and use it as a remote control while on top of the board.7. Very helpful for my videos since I could dive more deeply, smoothly and for longer than I could without it. Especially when I'm diving I found I could go deeper and follow the fish or turtles easier since I didn't have to use a lot of my oxygen to dive - I just aimed the scooter down and held on.Cons1. Not overpowered. I am a 160 pound man with a relatively slim build. You can see me in the photos I uploaded with this review. It is just adequate for my use as above. My son in law is 6'3" and about 240lbs or so and of hefty build. It was not sufficient for his use. I think it could use another 50% more power, but then I suspect it would have to cost more and the battery would be larger than what I can take on a plane.2. Throttle lag. This is not a deal killer, but there is maybe a half second lag between pressing the throttle button and getting a response from the unit. Same goes for when you remove yly to the motour finger from the button - it takes a moment to stop . In part, I think this is because the control grip is actually a wireless remote control instead of being wired directly to the motor. It takes a moment or two to get used to this.3. Three speeds (L, M, H) instead of a continuous trigger pressure control. I needed to plan what power level I would need instead of just hitting the button harder or softer. Not a deal killer, but it requires a bit more premeditation than I would like.4. buttons on the control don't do well with sand. Since I'm using this in the ocean and not a pool, this is an issue for me. It is pretty hard to keep the unit from getting sand on it when entering or exiting the water with those nice sandy beached and the small breakers. I am surprised they didn't take th is into account. It may be my most serious complaint .Conclusion:All that said, I still give this a four and would recommend the unit for the price range it's in. I gave it hard use for a week and it did not fail. I did make sure to do a complete fresh water rinse and dry it every day, etc. To get a unit that I would like a lot more would cost about twice as much, and this did do the job for my 160 pound self. Check out the photos. I will continue to use this.
