After purchasing a dog door for my daugher's sliding glass door it needed a lock. This lock worked great. The handyman installed it on top. No more time to lock and unlock than the original lock. Might be more secure! Much better than those other type of sliding glass door locks.

Easy to install. My 82 year old mom with bad balance was using a piece of wood AND a piece of molding in the track to secure the sliding glass door. This is a fantastic and easy solution to know my mom who lives alone isn’t going tail feather over head locking her door.

My underwhelming sliding door lock doesn't inspire confidence. I ordered this set as an extra layer of defense.Pros:1. White color perfectly matches my white vinyl door.2. Easily operated, reasonably attractive and unobtrusive latch mechanism.3. Adaptable to many door configurations.Cons:1. Screws are not color matched.2. 4 screw holes on the latch, but only two on the latch receiver.3. The latch body is plastic. I question its strength if forced during a break-in.4. In my case, unlike the product images and because my slide rail is thin, the latch receiver must be mounted with the bent tines facing outward, making it a catch point for drapes and looking tacky (see photo).Given 4. above, I'll mount the latch on the slider-door interior edge (see photo) and make and install a painted hardwood receiver in the clearance above the slider door with latch hole positions of my choice, and multiple screws into the door header, which will be more secure and nearly un-noticeable.Regardless, I consider the unobtrusive and well-functioning latch mechanism alone to be a good value.
