5.0 out of 5 stars Grain mill
Very happy with my purchase! New to milling my own flour this product has made it so easy to get started on living healthier.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works good
works pretty well. the noise is loud. easy to use. just be careful when you first use it make sure to screw it down i had mine fly off and wheat berries went everywhere but just the first time. and don’t use it for a long time or the kitchen aid will get too hot.
5.0 out of 5 stars Economical and easy to use
I read all the reviews before I purchased this attachment. I was pleasantly surprised after using this four times. One of the problems that I read about was the mixer itself heating up. That did happen but it never got hot enough to stop using it. The first two times I used it I ran it at the highest setting, then ran it through again on four and finally ran it through on the lowest setting. The third and fourth times using the attachment I deleted the first step and I started at four and then took it to the lowest setting of one bypassing the highest setting and it worked just as well. Because I only need 4 cups per loaf of bread, one cup of buds mills down to approximately 2 cups of flour. I generally do 3 cups of buds at a time.Having said all of this, considering a good mill runs $300 to $400 maybe $500, you get what you pay for and for what I do this one works just fine.
5.0 out of 5 stars perfectly designed
very comfortable, easy attached, perfectly devoted grain flour
5.0 out of 5 stars Finally—A Grain Mill That Makes Sense for My Kitchen
I’ve been wanting a grain mill for ages, mostly because I’m trying to get my family to eat more whole, natural foods without preservatives. I knew grinding my own wheat or corn could make a huge difference in both flavor and nutrition, and I also like that whole grains like wheat berries store better over time. But what held me back was the idea of adding yet another bulky appliance to my already full kitchen. Enter this brilliant attachment—for KitchenAid mixers! Why I didn’t think to check for this sooner is beyond me, but I’m so glad I found it.This fits my KitchenAid mixer perfectly, so that was the first hurdle cleared. While I haven’t milled flour just yet, the attachment connects securely and feels sturdy. It offers nine adjustable grind levels, so I can go from coarse cornmeal to fine pastry flour depending on what I’m making. The flexibility alone makes it a win, but the price really sealed the deal. Compared to full-size grain mills, this was much more budget-friendly, and I don’t have to sacrifice kitchen space to get the functionality I wanted. So far, I’m thrilled to have this in my kitchen, and I’ll definitely update the review once I’ve used it for actual milling. But between the fit, the design, and the potential, this is exactly what I needed. If you’re looking to start grinding your own grains without investing in a separate machine, this is a smart, space-saving solution.
3.0 out of 5 stars basically a good item
This mill is perfect for milling grain in small quantities of 2-3 cups or less and then letting the mixer cool down before doing more. I was excited at the prospect of making onion and garlic powder with it. I was sincerely happy with my purchase until I tried to grind some dehydrated (thoroughly dry) diced garlic. The product was not up for this task and the spindle that inserts into the mixer sheared off within seconds. Bolo is replacing the item. Needless to say, garlic will not be going through the replacement.
4.0 out of 5 stars Grinding Oats
I've been using this mill to grind up oats for oat flour. It's simple to attach and simple to use. They claim it can be adjusted from course to ultra-fine but even the finest ground setting still seems course to me.I'm using it with the KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus and it grinds much slower than I expected BUT I've actually never used one of these grinders before so I have nothing to really judge it by.The current price $67.50 seems a little overpriced to me but is at least within range of similar products from other brands. It is all metal and appears to be made to last so that's something to consider.Cleaning the mill after grinding oats is fairly simple. Just open it up and brush it out.Overall, I'm glad I got this mill even though I have those two issues with the grind courseness and the speed.
5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good!
The media could not be loaded. Have wanted a grain mill for some time. Saw this available for my stand mixer and jumped on it. Works really well. Pretty cut and dry set up and operation. Dial in your grind according to the provided guide paperwork and get your milling on. Ground up some hard winter wheat berries with no issue. Just to note, some grains will require grinding at different settings to ease the load on the mixer, for example, an initial grind at a courser setting before the final grind at a finer setting. Also, grind small batches for what you need. This will keep things fresher and protect your mixer which will heat up pretty fast. This is work for your mixer so don't take advantage. I did one quart of grain at a time before letting it rest and cool. The pics (which I have learned don't follow the order I send them so pay attention to the description):Mixer with quart of wheat berries.Hopper full of wheat berries.Video of Grind. The mill.Final yield.Note that 1 quart of berries will yield 1.3 quarts of milled flour.Lastly, as I said before, the grinding is work for the mixer so it will vibrate and shake. Make sure you have the mill seated well and that the male fitting on the mill is set well into the female pocket on the mixer. Also, during the grinding the vibration will loosen the tightening screw so stay on top of that.Works really well, but cannot speak to the long term durability and performance.
