It came with a slight charge, so we used it right out of the box. There were included instructions, but you don't really need them as the pump is pretty intuitive. It quickly inflated a ball to the set PSI, and will also read the current PSI. It comes with an A to C USB cable for charging, and a bag for storage. It will definitely come in handy, and is compact enough that it won't take up a lot of room being stored.

This small yet mighty little ball pump is very impressive. It's quite a find at this price. My seven year old wanted to try it on a basketball. I showed how to set the PSI and my kid took it from there. Super easy and intuitive. As far as I can tell, the accuracy is on point -- my child said the ball felt just right and it felt that way to me, too.The act of pulling the pin from its slot, screwing it in, unscrewing it, and returning it to its slot requires fairly typical fine motor capabilities. A younger child might struggle with screwing it in, someone older with arthritis or sensitivity challenges would also likely struggle with it -- or, of course, anyone of any age who has any difficulty managing small parts.I ALWAYS appreciate when the manufacturers choose to use Type-C (USB-C) charging sockets as this is the way the industry is going and I don't like having to keep track of a million charging cables. It works with any USB-C charging cable. The battery indicator is mightily confusing, which is why I removed a star. I wasn't sure it had retained its charge the week after I initially charged it, and I was going to have something to say about that if it hadn't. Now that I better understand the indicator, I kind of want to fully charge it, stick it in my kid's soccer bag and forget about it for a couple of weeks to see if it holds its charge and is ready to go when needed. But I don't think my kid is going to let it lay forgotten for that long.It would be a great gift, maybe a ball and this pump in a gift bag. Just tell the recipient to read the instructions first because the battery indicator is misleading.

I wanted a portable ball pump for my workout bag, so I got this Hyvohex pump. The pump is very compact - around 2x4x1", and light enough to keep in my bag all the time. Charging the pump is straightforward and I appreciate the USB-C port on the unit. Perhaps the only criticism is that the battery indicator doesn't show whether it's fully charged, but only when it needs charging. The pump comes with one sturdy needle and it's nice that it has a place to store it while not in use. It's easy to screw in the needle to the top of the pump.Using the pump is pretty straightforward - turn it on by pressing the on/off button for a few seconds, change the target pressure, insert the needle into the ball, and press on/off to start. It's not the most powerful pump but most of the time I just use it to top off the pressure, so it's fast enough. It will pump quickly if the ball is deflated, then slow down as it approaches the target pressure, then stop pumping when reaching that pressure. It's very nice to see the measured pressure of the ball. I will keep this in my bag all the time and use it on my balls and other people's balls. The price is a really good value even when it's not on sale, but definitely jump on it if it is on sale, like it is currently.

I would never go back to using a normal air compressor for sports balls again! I now "outsource" this to the kids themselves and there's no risk or danger from over-inflating a ball!This is so simple...screw the included needle into the pump, set the inflation pressure, turn it on...DONE!I used to stand in the garage while my daughter basically designated me "inflation master of the mid-west" and I would inflate ball after ball, bike tire after bike tire until everyone under 16 years old was ready for the tour de France, the NBA, NFL, or MLS try-outs!No more!Now I handed my daughter this incredible hand-held ball pump and let them keep all theri sports equipment maintained safely! It's a beautiful design, functional, quiet, and soooooo small!It's fast for its size, but it takes a minute or so to fill up a deflated ball but only seconds to top-up a ball that's 1 or 2 pounds low...The pump is rechargeable, efficient, and has an inverse LCD screen that shows current pressure and setpoint. It's not possible to set it high enough to cause problems for the user so safety is not even a consideration...it's safe!The ball needle stores neatly in the body of the pump and it comes with it's own travel bag that can clip to your equipment rack or ball bag!This is an ideal product, I wish we had these as kids!
