This isn't a huge step to make in normal situations but during the rainy season, water pools in that area so we are stepping in a pool of water when entering through this door at those times. Additionally, the cat door is in this spot and my two cats get soaked when entering/exiting through their cat door. This step stool is the perfect solution. It's the exact right size, is made of attractive and sturdy wood, has the non-slip strips on top, and can easily fold up for storage when not needed. I had already been considering hiring someone to build me a box like this and I know that would have cost a lot more than the $60 this one costs. I do feel that the light finish on this box's wood wouldn't hold up long in wet conditions so I am considering adding another coat of varnish or the like for protection. I also have a door mat on order to go on the top for scraping shoes off before entering. The few anti-slip strips aren't sufficient for that in my opinion. 100% would recommend this to anyone needing a box of this size.

When it arrived I thought it seemed very sturdy and looked nice. I purchased this for my parents and they loved it, but about a week later the step gave way, my dad said the nails are too small. I'm glad he did not trip when the step collapsed

I ordered this not so much for a step as for to use when I am working at the desk, and I am using it right now. Overall, this is a nice step and works fine for me and should work for anyone who needs to use it as a step like they show in their description. It has a number of crosspieces inside, so it is sturdy and doesn't feel like it's going to break when you stand on it - in the last photo I am standing on it and I weigh about 205 and it feels sturdy as a rock. I would be concerned with what happens if/when the wood starts to dry out and I would be sure not to leave it outside if you need to use it there. Also, the hinges are a bit underwhelming with very small mounts and I am also not sure how well they will hold up to time and repeated use. Finally, when you put the bottom rubber stickers on that serve as protective legs, the two sides don't shut all the way, so it stays open just a bit. For those reasons as well as a price point that seems a bit high, I decided to take one star off of my review. As long as you are aware of the things I have pointed out and the price isn't an issue for you, I think that you will like this step.

Not a product that is safe to use for someone who has balance problems and the wood is not good enough for outside
