5.0 out of 5 stars My #1 kitchen appliance. I can hardly go a day without it.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } The media could not be loaded. As a mom of six feeding a small army each day, I consider my Vitamix one of my best friends in the kitchen. I always try to convince family/friends it's worth every penny. Despite the high cost, if mine ever broke (it hasn't), I'd replace it immediately. Fortunately, with this new 10 yr warranty, I don't see that being a problem any time soon. This is an upgrade for me, after owning the legacy Vitamix 5200 for the last 15 years. I've never had a problem and it's never let me down, but I have kids going to college and decide to order this newer one for me and let them use my older one. So, my opinions are based on my experience with my older machine, and with my mother's Blendtec. The Ascent X5 is a pretty stellar upgrade. The machine is sleek and I love the stainless steel option, which has a more modern feel and is a better match for my kitchen (but really, it still has a fair amount of black). The touch-screen buttons feel fancy, are easy to use (not a press, just the lightest of touch) and the knob for selections and variable speed is so great. The new power button on the right underside is a little to get used to, but pretty simple once you get used to it. The base is big and heavy, but still about the same size, but with a larger motor (12 amp). This machine is lower profile with the 48oz carafe and it's an easy fit under our kitchen cabinets on the counter.Speaking of the carafe, it's a nice upgrade with a more secure lid, which locks in place and includes a clear lid and stopper. The stopper includes a little bit of a measuring cup for addl liquids, with 1/2 and 1 oz markings on the side (see photo). It's a little sad I can't use my older carafes with this blender. The Ascent series requires the SELF-DETECT containers, so I'm limited to this included 48 oz, which is tricky for our big family. I had to order the 64 oz container before I could really LOVE this new setup. So, if you have a need for the larger container, maybe consider various bundles. The blend power and smoothness is stellar, the programs are a fun new upgrade (but not crucial for me). I adore the cleaning cycle, because I feel like it's a little more hands off and I can attend to other things. The included recipes are fun and Vitamix always has great things to share in their marketing. I'm convinced there's no other blender out there that I've ever seen/used that gets a smoother blend. It allows me to do all the sneaky things: nuts, flax or broccoli in the kids' smoothies; blending beans into their tomato sauce. For me, a Vitamix is a huge part of a healthy lifestyle. I can more easily prepare and enjoy more fresh foods and make more things from scratch than I used to. So easily to use once you get the hang of it, ever useful, with exceptional quality all the time.Really my only downside, this is a loud machine. I'm used to it, but it really is loud. I don't believe it's as loud as the Blendtec, however. We did some side-by-side comparisons between my Vitamix 5200 and this Ascent X5, and they are remarkably similar. We couldn't tell a difference.
5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the line Vitamix, but pricey
This is one of Vitamix's newest and most expensive home blenders. It is extremely well made and should prove to be very durable, coming with a 10 year warranty. This is a nice looking blender with a brushed stainless steel base. The 48 ounce container makes it easier to fit on your counter and is more practical for making smaller recipes in day to day use. Controls are very simple with 10 built in blending programs including smoothies, frozen desserts, soups, frozen cocktails, dips and spreads, smoothies bowls, frappes, nut butters, non dairy milks, and spice grinding. It also has an add 15 seconds button in case your concoction needs just a little extra time. It also includes a pusher and holder for the pusher that can attach to the base. The blender also lights an indicator at times when use of the pusher is needed. The container has the blades built in but cleaning is still easy with the cleaning program function, it is also dishwasher safe. The powerful motor has no problem with ice cubes, fibrous vegetables, or frozen fruit and yields a smooth, well blended result. Although touted as being quieter than previous models, it is by no means quiet at higher speeds. Of course this is to be expected with a high power blender. It works with all self detect accessories. The blender is also capable of blending hot food such as soups. If you are the type who demands all the "bells and whistles", this blender may be for you. If you cannot afford the premium price, other blenders in the Ascentia line offer similar performance with fewer programs and other niceties. While $749.95 seems like a high price for a blender, the Ascentia X5 should last along time and can sometimes be picked up up on sale. We are super happy with this appliance and a happily trying the many recipes in the included soft cover recipe book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful design. Heavy duty motor. It pulverizes whatever you put in it. Very loud at max power
The media could not be loaded. This is a beautiful machine. It's like having a professional blender at home. I love that you can blend so many things in here, to the point where it’s entirely liquid (pulpy liquid, but not chunky). And you can even turn nuts into nut butter. The only drawback to machines like this is that they’re loud. I think that just comes with the territory for a machine with such a high-powered motor. This model is fairly quiet, until you put up to the higher modes - like around 7+. And when it's full blast, it's really loud, and even vibrates so much it moves around on the counter top.The cleaning cycle is nice. It starts slow, then fast, then slow again. You can also simply turn it on full blast and let it run for 30-60 seconds.I like that there are various modes to pick from on the screen, if that makes it easier for you. I really only make smoothies, so it goes to full blast every time. There’s a pulse mode button if you need it toolI bought my first Vitamix 12 years ago and it still works great. The only thing wrong with it is that it’s lasted so long that it looks very outdated. But it’s been the most useful kitchen product I’ve ever purchased and absolutely worth the cost. I have no doubt this new Vitamix will last as long, maybe even longer. My only concern regarding longevity is the digital display. Older Vitamix modes were only dials and switches, so much less likely to break. But digital buttons might not last so long.
1.0 out of 5 stars One Star – Buyer Beware
One Star – Buyer BewareVitamix cancelled my order without notice because I used a freight forwarder — yet still held a pending charge on my credit card. I followed up four times, and every time I got a different excuse. First they said 1–3 business days to release it, then 7. To date, they still haven’t released it. My bank confirmed the reversal would be instant if Vitamix would just authorize it. Completely unacceptable for a company of this reputation.
