I recently received this "Beatbot iSkim Ultra with Magnetic Wireless Charging Dock Bundle, Slight Gray" and even though it's too late in the year to be using it regularly right now, I could not be more excited about having it for when it warms back up in the spring!This sleek little robot welcomes the pool area into the 21st century. It reduces the amount of time required to keep the pool in tip top shape, and the fact that it's solar (and has a charging dock) just makes it that much better. I love that this pool-skimming robot has such a solid feel, which makes me believe the hardware itself is durable and should withstand the elements. It's reasonably lightweight, but still feels hardy. It does a decent job removing leaves and other floating debris, though it does struggle a little with corners. The most unexpected (and pleasant) thing so far is how much clearer the water is. I knew the iSkim Ultra had a "clarifier," but that wasn't a feature I really knew anything about, so I didn't pay it much attention. But now that I know, I know!It would be foolish for me to say this is NOT an expensive pool skimmer because this IS an expensive pool skimmer. However, I feel like this is a quality piece of tech and I'm impressed so far with the app, which is one of the things I tend to gripe about with a lot of newer technological "innovations." So often a company will put out what seems like a fantastic product, but then builds a crummy app to interface with it and the experience plummets into disappointment for the consumer. Thankfully, I don't feel that way with the iSkim Ultra's app. It's pretty user friendly and I like that I can see specific stats about each cleaning job afterward. Doesn't really change how I approach pool maintenance, but I still like seeing the details.In all, as expensive, high-tech cleaning accessories go, this one is up there as one of the priciest I've had the opportunity to try. That being said, I think it's also the highest quality product I've used so far and although my experience is relatively limited, I'm very confident that even if I run into issues later (when it's in more regular (daily) use), the company stands behind their products and will no doubt help me resolve whatever the issue might be.Happy to recommend!TL;DR VERSION:PROs:> Stylish, modern-looking design> Excellent surface skimming> Solar powered> Convenient dock with wireless charging> Easy (enough) to use app> Cleans water as it skimsCONs:> Expensive (but that's relative/subjective)

We already had a robot to clean the bottom of our pool, but felt this would help keep the surface area clean, and it does the job. Setup is very easy, simply charge it up (it comes with a magic mount charger, or can use the sun on its solar panels) and place in th pool. It offers a manual control, but the lag makes it hard to control to get to an exact spot. Maybe I just need more practice. I also do wish it would move faster.

My pool is situated at the bottom of a slope, so the wind (and gravity) kicks dirt and leaves into my pool daily basis. I have a "traditional" connected skimmer that works well, but have been wanting a solution that can run more often and, ideally, keep all the excess debris out of my filter pump. Happily, the iSkim Ultra seems to be that solution. I’ve been using it alongside my traditional skimmer, and this little robot has exceeded my expectations. It’s efficient, autonomous, and might just be convincing me to ditch the traditional skimmer altogether.One of the best things about the iSkim Ultra is how it keeps debris out of the pump. My original setup requires constant attention and regular filter washes, but this robot skims the surface like a champ without putting all the debris into my pool system. The solar charging feature is something I'm also very pleased with—the iSkim is continuously charging throughout the day, so it runs effortlessly all day and even into the night on a full charge.I would describe the cleaning quality as excellent. It tackles leaves, pollen, bugs, and even the random "mystery debris" that somehow always ends up floating on the water. It is also very easy to clean out the basket—just pop it open, dump the debris, and hose it off a bit. And because the basket is on the larger side, I can usually go about a week before the need to clean it. The clarifying agent seems to work good, as well, however clarity is not an issue I've generally had, so I may save the extra insert for a time my water looks cloudy - perhaps if we have a pool party with a lot of extra sunscreen in the water.The app, while not strictly necessary imo, is a functional bonus. It’s straightforward and allows you to schedule cleaning, monitor the skimmer’s progress, and even check the water temperature. I mostly let the robot do its thing, but the app adds an extra layer of control when I want it. My daughter also thought it was fun that she could "drive" the robot around the pool via the app.I’ve used another Beatbot products before for cleaning the bottom of the pool and have found the iSkim Ultra to be a great companion. Most of all, I've become convinced that Beatbot is really the leader in robotic pool cleaners. Between the quality build, useful features, and sheer effectiveness, I feel they're worth every penny. Yes, perhaps a bit expensive, but a good investment for your pool. Five stars all the way!

Works great but the software needs the ability to turn it on more than once per day, if it did that I’d give it 5 stars but that’s a big let down and need. You also can not use this with a corded vacuum robot. It would be nice if there was some type of skis with wheels that would ride over the other robots cord.

I have tried at least 4 different skimmers that did not work well so i figured i would spend more money and it should do the job right, but not at all, i need my skimmer for tiny gnats this and all other i have tried do not do a very good job at all, actually this one did worse than some of the less expensive ones, definitely not worth the money.

Incredible performance. So easy to use
The media could not be loaded. Our pool goes offline for most of the year, and when it comes online in the summer it is an absolute mess. This year, for the first time ever, the pool was practically cleaned already by the time the pumps were brought online. We couldn’t believe how well this Beatbot skimmer worked. The solar charging keeps it running almost continuously which is perfect for this high workload part of the season.The basket is massive and allows for adequate water flow even while carrying a lot of debris. Considering how much weight the unit has, I really appreciate that it slows itself down before touching the sidewall of the pool - it’s very graceful in its movements. During its sweeping of the pool surface it seems to go into a few different modes - it would run length ways, then switch to side-to-side, and then go into an edge cleaning mode to target all of the debris stuck against the pool liner - very efficient and thoughtful.Removal from the pool is very easy. The big handle on the front face means you always pick it up in the same orientation, allowing the bot to retain all of the debris it has caught while easily dumping out all of the water within seconds. Cleanup could not be easier - the basket’s massive clam shell design gives tons of access making thorough cleaning a breeze.So far I could not be more pleased with the Beatbot iSkim. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

An expensive floating surface cleaner!
This is amazing.It definitely helped with opening my above ground pool. Just be sure to turn the pump off to not have the jet to push this around. It is autonomous, and solar powered. Also comes with great accessories, as well as a power adapter, and a chemical cartridge to ensure a clean pool.It also works around the surface of a round pool no problem. Just let it do its thing for a day or so. Recommended for a sunny day without needing the pool. Set it and forget it, sort of thing. The machine does also have vocal prompts, so you can hear it when it's turned on, off, or done its thing.The price is a little exorbitant, but if the technology is there, it's more understandable, yet it doesn't even come with a case. So that was a letdown.All-in-all, great addition to any pool owner!
Good tool, but mixed feelings
Disclaimer: So I've only tried this out in our indoor pool. Generally, indoor pools are cleaner, with much less debris than outdoor pools, like leaves, dirt, etc., that can be blown into the pool. So you may or may not have a different experience than I had with this if used in an outdoor pool. First off, these are just like the iRobot cleaners for your homes but for your pools. So, in essence, they do the same job. Clean the area automatically so you don't have to. This is, of course, one of the biggest reasons why these automated robot cleaners are very popular. More specifically to this one, aside from the fact that this is an automated pool cleaner, it also comes with built-in solar panels and rechargeable batteries. This is specifically meant for outdoor pools. But in my case, where I tested this in our indoor pool, we have many glass panels on the roof. We get a lot of sunlight, but it does not even come close to the actual direct sunlight you would get outdoors. But, to be fair, it still picked up the sunlight and recharged its batteries - not fully, and it took a while, but it still did. So I was impressed with that. Of course, you can also charge it with the adapter.The other thing I like about this is its app. The app is decent and gets you some interesting data like cleaning status, battery status, water temperature, etc., and it also lets you set up a cleaning schedule. I would have liked to see a few more sensors on this for such an expensive price point to sample more things from water than just the temperature (like dissolved oxygen, TDS, ORP, pH, salinity, etc. and most of these sensors shouldn't really cost much. So that was a letdown. When you install the app, you'll need to have your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. Also, apparently, it only supports 2.4 GHz wifi.So this cleaner comes with 20 high-precision sensors and 3 ultrasonic sensors. In my experience, it worked well when navigating the pool. I don't know the logic in the software, but it looks like it's taking calculated measures to properly clean everywhere. It's got 2 brushes on the two front sides, which help pull the debris in. Very similar concept to the home-use iRobots. And they work well. There's also a relatively large "filtration" storage. It's 9L, so it's decent. It's easy to pull it out for cleaning purposes. Also, again, similar to home iRobots, it has a few mechanisms like automatic parking, which allows the cleaner to go to a designated corner and park. Overall, this does a great job of cleaning, and especially with the 24 W solar panel, it makes things much simpler. If you get good sunlight in your pool, all that's left is just fishing it out once in a while to clean the debris container and make sure everything is clean. My major issue with this is its high price point and the features it provides. I would have been happier if they had included a bunch more sensors so that using their app, I would get a better picture of my swimming pool, like some health parameters. Overall, this takes care of the job perfectly. You just have to see if the price is within your budget or not.
Solar Powered Pool Skimmer

No one needs extra chores to do, right?This bot is designed to keep your water clear and your pool surface free of debris. The bonus is that although this comes with a charging dock, this also charges using solar power as it is in use, reducing the amount of time needed to charge the unit.Using this is easy and reduces the amount that you'll need to use those harsh chemicals. This is a time saver and I love the companion app that allows me to schedule pool cleaning times if I want. The app is free and feature rich.If you're looking to save time this summer and keep your pool cleaner with less effort on your part, this skimmer is an excellent option.
