5.0 out of 5 stars Elipse
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I was really anxious to install this bulb over my son's kitchen's island. This bulb is really large and would nit fit into the pendant above the island. This was no fault of Philips or Bolo - "my bad".
4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, not recommended to combine with other Philips Hue lights (different brightness levels)
Thes e lights are incredibly beautiful on our ‘red-neck chandelier’. Unfortunately, in combination with other Philips Hue bulb, these dim much lower- which is a good thing, except if you combine it, these look nearly extinct when the other bulbs are still very bright (because they do not dim down as much). Wish Philips would address this and make products more consistent across the portfolio.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this line of Hue bulbs
Have this in a Mid Century Mod floor lamp with Elipse and Globe. Work great!
3.0 out of 5 stars Aesthetically pleasing but dim and overpriced.
So the Philips Hue Lightguide is definitely a looker. For starters, it’s huge. I’d say it’s probably 30% larger than standard Hue bulbs, so keep that in mind if you’re using it in a standard lamp instead of an uncovered hanging fixture which is what it’s ostensibly designed for. The clear, Edison-like design makes it stand out, especially if you’re using it in an open or transparent fixture where you can really show it off. That being said, the light output is pretty disappointing for a bulb its size (600 lumens) and this could be a problem if you’re expecting it to really light up a space. Also, it’s fairly expensive for what you get, especially when there are other Hue bulbs that perform better for significantly less. However, if you’re looking for an Edison-style bulb but also want the ability for colored lighting, your options are extremely limited and Philips clearly knows this.If you’re all about aesthetics and want a bulb that looks great even when it’s off, the Lightguide is a solid choice. But if you need something bright and budget-friendly, you will want to keep looking.
5.0 out of 5 stars Looks great
Does the job, lights up the space and adds some flair!
5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably nice looking element bulb.
But system is an investment but so worth it if your into smart lighting
4.0 out of 5 stars The Ellipse is a fun, unique lighting option!
The Philips Hue Ellipse bulb is truly unique and serves as a definite statement piece. I've paired mine with an IKEA Markfrost marble lamp base, and they complement each other perfectly. The base is very heavy, which prevents the bulb from tipping over easily. I also tried it out in a floor lamp fixture without the shade. I wouldn't recommend this bulb if you plan to place it in a fixture with a shade, as that would significantly diminish its "cool" factor. Keep in mind that it's a lower lumen bulb, so it's not the best choice for task lighting. Overall, I'm very pleased with it, and it always attracts attention when in use. I knocked off one star due to the cost as it's pretty high.
5.0 out of 5 stars so pretty. I love these bulbs.
unique looking, standard socket, all the great hue functionality. awesome.
You might get used bulbs for full price.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } These were clearly a return, so I paid full price for expensive bulbs that were used, that doesn't make me happy. Otherwise these are great.
Eh for price
Not as bright as I wanted
Aesthetically beautiful.
Many colors to choose from, depending on your moods or how you wabt to enhance any theme in your room.. Much love this light. I am planning to buy more Hue Lights from Phillis in the near future.
