5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance, flexible, and stable
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } This is my first multi-disk NAS beyond a Raspberri Pi + HDD or a spare laptop running SMB.I'm impressed. The software, though a little cheesy in the package descriptions, is stable and useful. It has the ability to run almost anything in Docker. There are plenty of built-in file sharing protocols. So far, the 8GB of RAM is enough for now and I'm comfortable knowing that can be upgraded. No issues with physically adding and recognizing new disks and managing the array.I'm running a 2.5Gbps home network and this NAS maxes that out bandwidth consistently.I can't quantify is how well it uses the NVME cache. I have a pair of 512GB NVME sticks and it doesn't seem to maximize their capabilities. The disks are a little bit noisy, constantly churning since I'm storing video from one CCTV camera, a little bit of sound insulation in the housing could improve that.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice NAS! Replaces older other manufacturer.
Still getting into. Network software showed it had some vulnerabilities but have not dug into them far yet. I let firewall take care of it. Easy to setup. Seems to work great. I added feet to the bottom to help with heat dissipation.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great NAS with a lot to offer
Easy to set up and use. There have been regular updates and improvements since receiving it. Seems reliable. Built on Linux with useful apps. Also offers 2 step authentication
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Hardware, not happy with the user manual.
So far I found the NAS system to be great, unlike it’s user manual. Without youtube videos I would be lost as I don’t have any NAS experience. Five points for the NAS hardware and minus 1 point for the manual giving an overall score of 4.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ugreen DXP 4800 plus - solid choice.
As first time NAS user I found the hardware quick and easy to setup. Getting for backups of phone and computer working was also a breeze. The photo app works really well. Some good guides online to set up the media server of your choice - plex, jellyfin, emby etc. They are a bit more complex, but follow the guides and its not hard. I could not be happier with this NAS. The better than average hardware was what sold me. Their apps are getting better and better every month.
1.0 out of 5 stars Regardless of quality, Chinese EULA is BAD
I cant believe that no review videos, redditors, or reviews have said ANYTHING about the terms that you are forced to sign to use this hardware from China. This is not being zenophobic, but really read the License agreement and terms that you have to sign when getting this. (Not verbatim but from memory)"You may not use this product for business purposes without the express written agreement from Ugreen.""You may not use this product in any way that does not conform to the Constitution of the People's Republic of China.""You may not store or transmitted anything on this or out services that we deem a subversive to the PRC."And it GOES ON AND ON AND ON.At the very end, it states that they don't have access to or read any of your data. I doubt that that is true. And even if it is, you are signing away many more rights than you realize BECAUSE NOBODY READS WHAT THEY ARE SIGNING!You could wipe it and install something else, but that does nothing for the hardware aspect of it.Only a fool would agree to any of this.
5.0 out of 5 stars Makes setting up a home NAS easy
I'm using this NAS with 4 12TB drives in a Raid 5 configuration, giving me roughly 32TB of reliable storage. I say reliable because each of the four drives is set up with reduntant storage, so that if it fails, it's data is already backed up on the other three. This sounds complicated, but the work is all handled by the software; you plug in the drives, attach it using Ethernet to you router, turn it on, and you're good to go. Install the app on a desktop, and it will find the NAS and walk you through the set up.Tis NAS has 4 bays for hard drives, and two for NVMe SSDs. The SSD can be used for additional high speed storage, or as a cache. I have a 1TB SSD configured as a cache.I've already set up the software to back up my desktop, and to act as a media server for the whole house. By downloading additional software, in my case, Jellyfin, I'm able to stream music and video to any device in the house, which is very nice. The specs of this NAS will support streaming and transcoding of 4k video, although I rarely store 4k files. Bluray is good enough for me, and takes up a quarter of the space. The software that comes with the NAS is decent, if a little basic, but you can easily install more robust applications as you need. BUt if you're just getting started with file servers, the included software is all you need to tart learning. Finally, this NAS is not the cheapest out there, but it is very flexible, fast, and feature rich. I don't expect to be replacing it any time soon. One important thing to know: spend the extra money on drives rated for use in a NAS. Unlike your desktop, the disks in a NAS are spinning almost all the time. NAS rated drives are designed for that kind of use; desktop drives are not.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great little NAS for home or small office
Needed a NAS to replace aging HP Homeserver and this popped up.Easy to set up and use with opportunities to expand and Docker built-in makes it a great alternative.
Sturdy, Performant, and Convenient
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Amazing little NAS. Rock solid, performant, and it looks nice too.Installing and removing drives is very easy. Getting at the m.2 and memory is also reasonably easy. It has lots of CPU and memory (though I added another 8GB to mine).I can't comment on the software, as I installed TrueNAS Scale on it without ever even booting to the provided OS.Right now it's running nicely with 4 drives and several apps (Jellyfin, Immich, Syncthing, etc). No complaints!
An Essential and Efficient NAS for Home Use
It’s a very nice and compact NAS for home use. It’s powerful, with up-to-date hardware and software, and has low power consumption. There’s plenty of room to upgrade both memory and storage. I just can’t imagine living without a NAS for my files and pictures.
My best NAS to date
So far great, beets all previous NASs in that the settings are consumer-friendly, while I've been using Qnap for the last 15 years, this has the similar limitations, but I don't have to hold a degree in network management to configure it as a file server and host for VMs. If it had a few bonus features, it would get a 6 out of 5.The NAS supports Firefox, and running a speed test on Firefox nets me 97% of my internet max speed limit up and down. I haven't tested file transfer speeds as I'm still using WiFi to access it.
A good all round preformer. Easy to use.
A good home or small office NAS. Works well, but the in-house Linux OS is very minimal. Hopefully there will eventually be more apps ported for it, or it will become open source. The NVMe drives don't need to be large and can be mirrored (RAID1) when used as cache. I used two 1TBs I had around, but only about 13-17% is being used. Only in operation for 10 days, so longevity no yet evaluated.
Great for Home and Hobby Use
Great build quality. The trays are plastic but not a deal breaker. Has a lot of bays for storage, 4x HDD and 2 M.2 with 128 GB built in storage. 8 GB is a little on the short side but thankfully it’s upgradable with ease. SD slot in the front is nice. Easy setup and great UI.
