5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite underwater camera

I lost my first one and living closer to the ocean, I wanted a proper underwater camera as ohone just wasn't cutting it.I had the TG-6 and was surprised how many new features there are with this camera.Still learning but initial test photos of scenery and macros of plant pests are fantastic (helped identify them!). I forgot how great the quality of the photos and videos is.I had gotten a GoPro, which was stolen or not actually delivered. That's when I learned of the poor GP customer service. I tried a similar style camera but was shocked at how short the battery life is between charges (30min.) which meant I would not have a usable camera for most of a snorkeling session. That's when looked into latest Olympus as I really did love my first camera. Def glad I got this. Worth the extra money and will have fun learning all its functions.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great overall adventure travel camera.
Took this on a vacation to Belize. Was glad it was as durable as indicated as it was dropped and bumped around a lot. I used the auto, underwater and macro settings quite a bit. I was very happy with the quality of the images. I only wish it had a written manual. Having to refer to on online PDF that is over 100 pages to figure out the functions was a drag with the limited access to internet on my trip. Batter life is good as long as you don't use the zoom a lot. That seems to eat up the battery. Not the best zoom on a camera I ever had but the macro, panoramic, underwater capabilities made up for that. Can't wait to take it on more trips!
4.0 out of 5 stars Best rugged compact but could be bettet
It is the best rugged camera for macro. But I wish it was better. Not sure if this is a sensor problem, but the colors are not as good as other cameras, including cell phones. Uber maximum zoom, depending on lighting there is also a weird glare spot right in the middle of the frame, which is something I noticed in my TG4 and continues to be a problem in this one. They are actually so similar that I would recommend buying a used TG4 or TG5 instead of this version. I only replaced my old one because it broke after many years of abuse doing fieldwork from damp rainforests to salt rocky shores.
5.0 out of 5 stars Rugged and Reliable for Overlanding Adventures
The OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 Digital Camera has become an indispensable part of my overlanding gear. Its rugged construction—waterproof up to 50 feet, shockproof from 7 feet, and freezeproof down to 14°F—means I can confidently use it in various challenging environments without worry. OM SYSTEM | Olympus+2UW Photography Guide+2Treeline Review+2The camera's macro capabilities are exceptional, allowing me to capture detailed shots of wildlife and nature. Its 4K video recording ensures high-quality footage for my content creation needs. While the image quality may not match that of high-end DSLRs, the TG-7's durability and versatility make it a top choice for anyone needing a reliable camera in the field.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great picture quality
We bought this specifically for our trip to Bora Bora and it did not disappoint. Very pleased with the picture quality and how easy it is to download the photos from the camera to the IPhone.
1.0 out of 5 stars Was great but quickly has issues for me
Only had this about 2 months and had very high hopes for it. I will say that the macro and microscope feature is (was I should say) awesome and takes amazing up close shots. My issue with it is that is developed this purple glow directly in the center of the image and also causes it to become blurry. I am very familiar with cameras and the lens is clean, proper lighting with photos. The blurry purple spot also takes up about half the image with the use of microscope mode and a quarter with photo stacking mode. This camera has never been dropped or wet and has been treated like a high end camera. I was hoping to replace my big camera in the field with this for fungi taxonomy projects but looks like this will not be the case. Have to now send this back in for them to repair or replace. I bought this as a friend has one and has had no issues so I believe it might be a great camera but maybe just my bad luck of getting one with issues.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great snorkeling camera
Beat my expectations. I was unsure of how clear the pictures would turn out but they were amazing. We spent a week in Kauai and I took this snorkeling with me every day. The zoom capability really impressed me. If you are able to hold still enough the pictures are very clear and everything looks so close.
5.0 out of 5 stars Significant Improvements vs. the TG-3
I had used a TG-3 for almost 10 years in all kinds of harsh industrial environments and can attest that it was indeed "tough", but it did not survive a fall from a 10 ft. ladder onto concrete. The TG-7 seems like a very significant improvement and all the TG-3 accessories (flash diffuser, ring light, lenses) still work with the TG-7. The new camera feels a little heavier but much more solid, has better grips, and a better zoom level. The camera "modes" are a little different but I have yet to check them all out. Having two "custom" modes is a nice touch. The improvements in the photo viewer are many and much appreciated. The calendar view is awesome!I am not a water sports guy so I never had my TG-3 under water, and doubt that I'll ever have the TG-7 under water either -- it's just too nice a camera to take a chance with, at least for me.I can't speak to the photo quality yet, but for my use in an industrial setting, functionality is a lot more important than having the absolute best quality photos.I will update this review as I learn more about the new camera. But for now I can 100% recommend this camera if you need rock solid performance and durability.
¡Excelente cámara!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Aún cuando no he aprovechado todas sus características, esta cámara se siente sólida y la calidad excelente.Desde hace años Olympus ha sido "mi cámara". Ahora se llama "OM System", pero para mí nada ha cambiado, además del nombre. Sé que entre los profesionales no es la primera elección, pero para mí ha sido excelente.
Really good camera
Really good camera a little better than the TG6 But I prefer the focus on the TG6
Great camera
This camera is great. Excellent lens and great durability. Just pay attention to the depth of water proof: 15 meters.
Good camera when it works - intermittent screen
When the camera worked it was great. It took good pictures under water and the zoom quality was decent for digital zoom. I also like the fact it stored the depth, temperature and location. However the major problem with this camera was the screen, the screen kept going black even though the camera was switched on. Then you needed to spend around 5 minutes taking the battery in and out to try and get the screen to work again. There is clearly a software or hardware fault with this camera as I've seen this problem come up regularly on forums now.
camera de sports par excellence
Parfaite petite camera pour toujour avoir avec soi en camping, randonneée ou en canot excellent pour la macroEn replacement de note TG-1 originale qu'on a adoré
