She’s still a beginner and has so far relied on tracing from other drawing books or images online rather than being able to freehand. I got this to help her put her own ideas and creations down on paper so she wouldn’t feel stuck drawing the same figures over and over. This book has really great examples of different poses, hand gestures, and facial expressions, and does a good job of leading you through how to get from beginning to end rather than jumping from a cluster of circles to a finished face. When I gave it to her she was so excited and immediately started flipping through it and pointing out all of the different styles and expressions she wanted to try. It seemed like the different body poses and anatomy proportion explanations were something she hadn’t seen in any of her other books, and that’s such an important part of character drawing. This book seems really well thought out and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is getting into drawing manga/anime, both beginners and those with some basic knowledge. It would serve as a great reference to keep on hand

I received a free copy from the author of this book. My 8 year old daughter loved this book. She used to try to draw anime characters on her own before, but she wasn't very good at it. Now she knows how to do it properly and she's getting great results. I recommend this book for school-aged children - drawing these kinds of pictures is what kids do during breaks at school these days.
