What a great read! Sad that I finished it. Engrossing writing. Felt like I was there and knew the characters. Beautiful ending. If you read one fiction book this year, make it this one.

I bought this book on a whim because the cover was pretty, it had an interesting title, and it was $1.99 on kindle. Ha. Then it sat in my kindle for a few months before I decided to read it. Turns out, Theo of Golden is the most beautiful book I’ve ever read. I’ll be buying a paper copy to keep on my bookshelf forever. It’s one of those books that anyone and everyone would love, and should read. The writing is absolutely superb- full of life and detailed descriptions with so much emotion. I have never cried so many times reading a book. So many happy tears and catch-your-breath moments as this wonderful story travels along and finally comes full circle in the end. Truly a masterpiece. It was that lovely. Read it, and share with your family and friends.

This book portrays hope and goodness despite what is going on in the world. Through Theo’s genuine love for people, he enriches their lives and we become a part of this beautiful story. Vivid descriptions place the reader in Golden, at Theo’s bench, and invite, yes encourage, us to choose the better way. The profound and long-lasting effects of reading this book will alter your way of considering your fellow human beings.

This book has been the best I have read this past year - beautifully written and very heart wrenching. If you do not believe in God, you might start thinking about having a relationship with HIM after reading this book. It brought tears to my eyes many times and ended perfectly!

In today's world, where we see so much hate, division, and intolerance, this book about a truly good man who embodies love is salve for the soul. It restores your faith and reminds us of the love and beauty of which humans are capable. I really don't have the words to describe how deeply touching this beautiful book is. It shows us how it is better to serve than to be served and the power of kindness. Read this book.

It's not often that a book moves me as much as this one did. Theo of Golden has moved up to the top of the list of favorite or great books I have read. If you are looking for a fast, action packed book, this is not the book for you. But if you are willing to be challenged on a personal level for the kind of person you are and how you affect the lives of those around you, you will find this book challenging and inspirational. Theo, an elderly man, moves to Golden, Georgia, and quickly befriends those in his neighborbood. His loving, positive interactions with his neighbors changes them all. It's not until the end of the book that we discover why he moved there, and the revelation comes as a surprise. This is so well written! I highly recommend this book!

I cannot say it better than the other reviews of this book I have read, but just want to add that I think this book is destined to become a classic. It is outstanding in every way: use of language and metaphor, beauty of sight and insight, storytelling, and inspiration by example. Please read it; you won’t regret it! I have not read a more inspiring book in my 75 years as a natural born bookworm!
Theo of Golden
From the beginning of this book, I fell in love with Theo, a generous, quiet soul with lots of history of his own, plenty of sadness, but a heart full of goodness. This book made me cry, it made me smile and laugh. The characters are so very well drawn I feel like they have become friends.I absolutely loved this book and will tell everyone about it, and will be looking forward to reading Ellen of Golden.
Made my heart sing

This evening, I was explaining to my eldest daughter, how some books improve our academic knowledge and inspire us, but that the best books make our ‘hearts sing’ and create a sense of longing in us to change forever. Theo of Golden has changed my heart for the better.Having finished it, the book seems too great to just place back on a shelf, it’s become a part ofme. I’m so glad I met Theo.I’m a vicar in the Anglican Church in the north of England. I pray that Theo will inspire me to be a better Pastor. His commitment to sitting alongside people, being attentive, and loving them is powerful reminder of how gentle, loving kindness really can impact those whom the Lord places in our lives.In a world and sadly a church culture which values success by other quantifiable metrics, such as money and numbers. Theo has reminded me that love really is the greatest gift!Have you read ‘Gentle and Lowly’ by Dane Ortlund. I believe that The theology which is beautifully expressed in his book on the heart of Christ, is expressed in story through Theo of Golden. All the things I love most about Theo of Golden point towards Jesus…CS Lewis once said to a mother who was worried about her son loving Aslan more than Jesus… that in fact by loving Aslan he was loving Jesus even more.I think Theo has helped me to love the Lord more, because all the things I loved most about Theo are even more true of Jesus! And Jesus has truly changed my life forever.
An unexpected treat
My wife found this purely by serendipity, and said I would enjoy it (which I did). Languid as the rivers beloved by Theo, a genuinely beautifully written and uplifting tale.
