The wet surface of Cinnamomum kanehirae wood is not easy to collect. In addition, the wild Cinnamomum kanehirae has been listed as one of the national treasures by the government in recent years, so the social events of stealing Taiwanofungus camphoratus are still heard from time to time.
Only grows on the unique camphor tree in Taiwan. Wild Taiwanofungus camphoratus is a unique conservation tree species in Taiwan Island. There are more than 100 Nymphaea camphora trees in the Xueshankeng Nymphaea Reserve at the upstream of Da'an River. Taiwanofungus camphoratus is found on the camphor tree and can grow for hundreds of years. The host of wild camphor tree, the Taiwan camphor tree, which relies on for survival, grows only in mountainous areas of Taiwan at an altitude of 450 to 2000 meters worldwide. The camphor tree only grows in the hollow area of the decaying inner wall of the camphor tree, or on the dark and damp surface of the fallen camphor tree. The number is very rare and the growth rate is very slow, with an annual growth thickness of only a few centimeters. It has been legislated as a national treasure level protected tree species in Taiwan.
