I recently purchased the Broan-NuTone 688 Ceiling and Wall Ventilation fan on Bolo, and I couldn't be happier with the results. This product was a direct swap for my old ventilation fan, and the difference is incredible – the noise is completely gone!What impressed me the most was the ease of installation; it took me less than 10 minutes to replace my old unit with this one. The included instructions were clear and straightforward, making the process a breeze.Not only is the functionality outstanding, but the price point for this fan is exceptional. The quality is top-notch, and it feels like a durable and reliable addition to my home. I strongly recommend it to anyone in need of an efficient and quiet ventilation solution for their home. I bought this to replace an in-op exhaust fan in our bathroom. It is the same one we purchased some years ago. It is very inexpensive ($16 when I purchased) and can clear 50 cubic feet per minute.I give it a 3 on noise level as it is a bit noisy. However it’s a noise of air being drawn in rather than noise from the motor or assembly. The motor is rather quiet and there are no rattles from the assembly, housing, fan, or cover. Again, you can definitely hear it drawing the air out.Installation I give a 4. It’s not difficult but it’s not just attaching it to a beam and plugging it into power. It does require the motor to be removed (which is done simply by lifting and pressing slightly against the housing) and then its electric panel to be removed (again also held on with tension) to be able to attach the power and more easily attach it to a beam. Then once secured and power hooked up you must replace the panel cover and the motor assembly to finish the installation.It can be attached with nails or screws. If this is going int a new install where Sheetrock has not yet been installed your installation will be slightly easier as you will not be confined to the opening in the Sheetrock.This unit can be mounted in ceiling or wall systems.** depending on how your current fan is installed you may have an easier or more difficult time installing. - - - I didn’t give it a 5 for installation due to needing to remove/disassemble two separate sections to install the electrical prior to attaching and putting it all back together **

Recently one of my bathroom fans started to have issues. I had not replaced the fans for almost 20 years, so I wasn't surprised. All of my fans were made by Broan and since they lasted such a long time, i decided to get new Broan fans. Thankfully, I found the Broan-NuTone 671 at a very good price and bought several of these as replacements. Installation was easy and straightforward. The only issue was removing the old fans which required a dusk mask, and goggles (they were really dusty). Once the 671 was installed it worked as advertised. It is a "noisy" fan as one would expect, and it is not "quiet" at all. But I prefer this because it masks a person's "activities" while in the bathroom. Performance is very good - it clears the moisture from the air faster than my old fans for sure. Lastly, the vent cover of the fan can easily be opened for maintenance (like dust cleaning). This fan is a good choice for something inexpensive, reliable, and straight-froward.

The media could not be loaded. For the price, this is an amazing deal. I bought one on sale and expected to return it. I simply did not trust a fan at that low of a price. I was so impressed with the first one, I bought a second at full price, which was still less than 20% of the price of any other comparable bathroom fan.It is a little bit loud, but that white noise is half the reason iI use a bathroom fan, honestly. So, it's perfect. I now have one in each of my bathrooms and i could not be happier. I am thinking about buying a couple more just in case they wear out quickly, but I've had the first one running for over a month and it's still working as it did on day 1. Great fan for an unbelievably low price. If you need one, buy this one!

I wanted to replace a same-make bathroom ceiling fan installed when house new(2001) because of sometimes noisy operation sounds. I am 81 years old and not mechanically inclined. Couldn't get model # of old fan but nominal dimensions same as this new one and some reviews indicated 20 year old new builder-furnished & installed with no problem using this new fan. Some reviewers mentioned 15, 30 minute, no problem installation as replacement. MY EXPERIENCE: took out old fan(easy)..I had hoped housing would not need replacement..but fan/housing too big for old housing. The installation requires in my case climbing in attic thru garage-placed trap door with extension ladder, finding fan, removing nails from joists holding unit to prevent excessive vibration, removing housing assembly/fan motor assembly, cutting slightly larger hole in ceiling sheetrock, fitting & nailing new unit in and plugging unit in and turning it on to see if works. At my age climbing ladder in 10.5 ft garage height, crawling across catwalk boards on the attic floor 2/3 of the length of house, removing blown-in insulation, etc. easily discouraged me. I kept the 2 fans I ordered for a handyman installation next time I need a service call for several problem fixes. I cleaned the old fan assemblyy & housing and this solved the problem--for a while. I think the fans this company make are high quality, especially for the money.
Great wall mount vent fan
We installed this in the bathroom wall and installation (with the kit) was pretty easy. It does make a bit of noise, but it's not loud or an annoying noise; it sounds like a regular fan on high. Some other reviewers have said it's extremely noisy, but maybe it's where it was installed that's causing more noise, as this model can be used on either a wall or ceiling.It works really well to vent the steam from showers. We switch it on when we go in, and leave it on for a few minutes after we get out. The mirror clears up within a couple of minutes.The product info listed here mentions two sone levels, but this model is 6 sones according to the Broan website.

UK Buyer beware!!
I was very disappointed to find out that I needed to spend an extra £200 to purchase 2 step-up converters. There is nothing in the description or on the packaging to clearly articulate the fact that the fans are not suitable for the UK.Unfortunately I had to wait until my electrician was available to install the fans - which took place a few days outside the refund window.Now I am stuck with two fans that I can't use. Wasted money.I contacted customer service and they have ignored me after offering to reimburse me.Very dissatisfied customer.
