We as a civilization have come a long way through the years. Constantly trying to make things better, more efficient,....easier. I imagine first came the axe, then the hatchet and, finally the wedge. Then I imagine someone got the idea to put wedges on the wedge and the splitting wedge was born. Another person decided to put a long handle on this splitting wedge and the splitting maul was invented. Now we are starting to see the wedge on hatchets like this one making it better, more efficient,...and easier to use. I really love this hatchet!!! I have read some of the reviews and do not agree with some of the statements. I feel it is sharp enough. This is a hatchet. It is a tool that was not made to cut paper or shave with. You could make it a little sharper but not enough to make that much of a difference. This is a hatchet designed to "STRIKE" a less harder object like,.....wood. If the cutting edge is too thin it will curl over and brake off causing your hatchet to really be dull. When I first picked up the hatchet I notice that it was heftier when compared to a regular hatchet. I feel this extra weight makes it easier so you do not have to swing as hard. Besides, if it does not split the wood I'm sure it will be far enough in so you can strike the back of the hatchet with another piece of wood to finish the job. Then there is the way the heel part of the cutting edge is extended protecting the belly part of the handle. This I feel better protects it from those over strikes which could damage the handle. Then there are those small metal wedges that protrude from each side of the Bit part on the head or blade. This makes the hatchet split more efficiently. How you may ask. By reducing the friction between the wood and the head part of the hatchet. The wedge shaped design also applies more splitting power. The handle is ergonomically designed which I also feel prevents it from slipping out of your hand easier than a straight handle would. The handle also has a lanyard if you wish to use it. There is also two extra wedges that come with the hatchet should you need to replace the handle. The hatchet has a rubber piece that protects the cutting edge. Why, I am not sure since it also comes with a leather sheath. The sheath is not designed to be carried on a belt. It is just to protect the cutting edge and I knew that when I bought it. Besides, I know how to make myself a leather sheath to put on my belt or backpack should I want one. The price is more than most other hatchets but I feel it is worth it. I am sure mostly due to the higher tariffs we are now paying. Someone said it is made in China for those of you that care. If I saw another hatchet that had everything this one has and made in the USA, I would have bought it instead. Remember, "better, more efficient and, easier." In closing my opinion is that this hatchet is superior to any other hatchet I could find. But hey, you make your own decision.

This Hatchet packs a big punch! I used it for cutting down smaller branches off several of our trees and bushes and it sliced through like a hot knife in butter! Great quality, very durable and the sharp edge gets the job done efficiently!

Handy, heavy duty, perfect to take around. Size and quality is perfectly as description says. Very comfortable to se. the handle is made up of solid wood making it extra stronger. Love it. Perfect for camping, splitting woods, cutting bones. Multi purpose uses.

The build quality is well executed but the glaring issue of this hatchet is the fact that it can't and won't cut even after spending hours with aggressive sharpening belts, diamond stones and natural stones the profile and sheer hardness of the steel make it nearly impossible to get any kind of working edge on it that isn't just blunt and smashes wood. It comes basically completely blunt from the factory and the amount of material that would need to be removed to make this design even semi serviceable isn't worth the headache. Look elsewhere for this price.

Purple dragon camping hatchet hand frogged splitting axe is excellent axe.Its far exceeded my expectations for the price.The axe really works nice and it has a very sharp edge which to cut the trees on the lawn very easily.The main thing that i loved from the axe is it comes in leather sheath and has the edge cover on it so that you can carry the axe easily on camping.It has very smooth handle which will not hurt your hands while holding.

Der Griff gibt sehr guten Halt und der Vortsatz am Axtkopf ist eine schöne Handstütze für feinere Arbeiten. Die Verarbeitung wirkt solide und wertig.Das Gewicht liegt bei etwas über einem Kilo und ist damit ausreichend um eine gute Spaltwirkung zu erzielen aber dennoch nicht zu schwer um sie am oder im Outdoorrucksack zu tragen.Wie gesagt, die Spaltwirkung ist gut und wenn man weiß wie, gehen auch relativ dicke Äste gut und schnell durchgehackt. Also Quer. Ich habe es mit einem getestet, der ähnlich im Durchmesser war, wie die Klinge des Axtkopofes lang ist. Ebenfalls ist das schneiden von Holzlocken (siehe Bild) möglich, was ich erstens wichtig und zweitens bei einer Axt in der Preisklasse echt gut finde.Alles in Allem bin ich sehr zufrieden mit der Axt und bin gespannt wie sie sich auf Dauer so schlägt...

En kaliteli, en pahalı kamp baltalarının bile kafasında, sapında, kılıfında vs. kullanıma engel olmayan ufak tefek hatalar olabiliyor. Fakat bu üründe toplu iğne başı kadar bile hata bulamadım. İşçilik ve malzeme kalitesi mükemmel. Balta, kafa yapısından dolayı kamp vb. aktivitelerinizde hem yarma hem de kesme işlerini yapmak için dizayn edilmiş. Kaliteli-kalitesiz, markalı-markasız onlarca baltam var. Hepsinin içinde bu balta 1. sıraya yerleşti. Teşekkürler.

Das Purple Dragon Beil liegt mit ihrem Gewicht von 1,1kg gut in der Hand ,Ich habe das Beil getestet und für sehr gut befunden. Mit ihren kleinen Maßen von 37,5cm passt sie auch in den Rucksack und ist leicht zu transportieren.Für jeden Outdoor Fan ein schönes Beil.Ich kann Sie weiter empfehlen 👍

Der Eindruck des Beils ist stabil, der Stiel ist erfreulich lang und liegt sehr gut in der Hand! Zuspitzen von Ästen ging gut, für knorrige Holzstücke aber vielleicht etwas zu wenig Spaltwirkung. Aber dafür würde man eh eine Spalt- oder Holzfälleraxt benötigen. Gewicht liegt (ohne Schnittschutz) bei 1043 Gramm, so dass sie gut geeignet ist um mitgetragen zu werden. Im Preis/Leistungssegment bin ich sehr zufrieden.
