5.0 out of 5 stars A real impact
I put this in a room that is more or less baked all day long by the sun. I have several aqara temperature sensors throughout my house and that room is always 10+ degrees warmer in the summer than every other room in the house. Using the graph of the temperature from a 16 hour period from 8pm to noon the temperature dropped significantly and kept pace with the rest of the house on the rise through the morning and into the afternoon. The average temperature of the room over the past week was 81 degrees with the AC set at 72. For the whole day (after turning in the fan in that room) the average temperature was 70.4 degrees. (It’s a zoning problem in the house that is going to take like $8k to fix so a $150 fan was worth testing). I need more data to make a definitive conclusion of course but this first day is a promising datapoint, considering the previous day’s high temp was 98 degrees and today was 94 a near 11 degree difference in the room temperature is huge. There was a forecasted 4 degree difference with the high temp from yesterday and today, and I kept the AC at 72 degrees as I always have it. The only significant change in that room was this fan and we only used the water reservoir we’re going to run it for a full 7 days with water only and then have data to compare the significance with the ice packs installed.I have another room that isn’t as intense as the other room and I’m buying another for that room too.Very highly recommend so far!
4.0 out of 5 stars Leaks water
The reservoir is heavily leaking after a couple months of use and winter storage in the attic. No obvious cracks or breaks, but it won't hold water. ***But I filled a warranty claim that was super fast and easy, and they are sending a new reservoir. ***
1.0 out of 5 stars Potentially dangerous
The fan, despite its high cost, does cool effectively. However, several issues detract from its overall usability:*will mold if not cleaned at least weekly**Health Hazard*1. **Water Retention Problem**: The fan doesn't fully deplete the water tank, leaving water at the bottom that must be manually poured out. This stagnant water can lead to mold growth, which poses a health risk as it can spread through the fan and into the air.2. **Refilling Issues**: The product is advertised as being easy to refill with a jug, but this is not advisable. Allowing water to sit at the bottom can cause it to become murky and yellow within days if not properly emptied and cleaned.3. **Cleaning Challenges**:- **Tank Cleaning**: Cleaning the tank is cumbersome as it requires detaching the filter each time. The tank has too many curves and hard-to-clean spots, making thorough cleaning difficult.- **Cooling Pad**: The cooling pad is impossible to clean effectively.4. **Odor Concerns**: There is a noticeable odor upon initial use and sometimes when refilling. In summary, while the fan cools well, its design flaws, cleaning difficulties, and potential health hazards significantly reduce its overall value and convenience.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cooling for arid, dry climates
Being most effective in an arid, dry climate and perhaps largely due to a misunderstanding of what to expect from an evaporative cooler, some reviewers have been disappointed with its performance. The machine combines a powerful fan with a cool air humidifier but does not itself ‘produce’ cold air like an air conditioner does. So, if used in an already humid environment, it further increases the ambient humidity by adding cool humid air to hot humid air, resulting in even muggier air, rather than producing the desired cooling effect.Too, it must be placed with its back to slightly opened door or window, or it will not have the necessary airflow to achieve optimal performance. If the unit has not been used for a while and the cooling pad has dried out, the next time it is turned on with the humidify function activated, you should briefly hear water dripping down the cooling pad to reactivate it. If you don’t hear it, just call customer service for over the phone resolution.Living in the American Southwest, I am accustomed to what to expect from evaporative (swamp) coolers and I like this product very much. It offers numerous options for operation, has a decent size water tank and is ready to go with very minimal assembly. Rather than taking the tank in and out to fill, I use a pitcher and on hotter days, add ice cubes to the water. This is in my opinion more effective than using plastic ice packs. The fan is powerful enough to noticeably cool my entire one-bedroom apartment, which I find is reflective of the quality and utility for which Dreo fans are known. The warranty is an impressive 30 months, which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction.I highly recommend this product to other shoppers, per the above-mentioned operational stipulations.
3.0 out of 5 stars Hit and miss...
We've bought two of these. It's basically a standing evaporative cooler with a pump that circulates water through the chiller medium and blows air across that medium to create cooling. The first one was nice, worked as described. The second one has a pump that has not worked since the first day we got it. So it's a very over-priced fan. We're at 50/50 on these, so... 3 stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Fan and Customer Support
Product works great, haven't tried the evaporated cooling just yet since it is still a little chilly in southern California. It has a strong airflow with 4 levels, remote is responsive where I am, and it is not very noisy.Customer service is also great, Carol helped me out once I entered a ticket for the set up and she was able to ship me the part that I was missing. It looked like I received a returned package when I ordered originally.I would recommend this company's product to other people
