These come in sealed foil sheets which made it easy to divide them up between my hiking/backpacking gear, my go bag, home first aid kit and my car first aid kit. And having 100 of them, each place got a decent stash. They are super lightweight so there really isn’t a reason not to include them. These are the kind of thing I want to have on hand for emergencies like a jammed water filter, an issue with our water at home where they tell you not to drink it without purification etc. I also use these when camping in my dishwashing station, for sanitation purposes. Each tablet helps clean around 2.5 gallons of water. Easiest is to have a big container. You just drop it in and wait 30 min. For smaller amounts, especially on the go, you can cut the tablet or do what I sometimes do, especially on a group trip, which is fill 2 1-liter bottles, then wait 30 min; pour equal amounts into the other bottles (for 2.5 gallons that is a little under 9.5 liters so you can set up 9 people with water this way), top them off with the unpurified water, shake and let them sit another 30 min. Not the fastest, but works! Do note that these are chlorine tablets, not iodine, so while they are not that fresh spring water taste, they also are not the horrible iodine flavor either. Do make sure you don’t eat, breathe in or get a lot of the tablet on your skin or in your eyes, as it isn’t good for you in concentrated amounts. Other than that these are a lightweight, convenient way to help keep your water safe. I recommend them.

I ordered the puratabs because it is supposed to have a long shelf life but when I got it in the mail I noticed that it is only good for a few more months! I'm very disappointed.

I tested these purification tablets using the water from the lake I live on because in an emergency that would be our water supply. It really did make the water clear and was indeed clean according to the test kits I used. I'm still not able to bring myself to drink it and it would have to be my last option to do so because in my mind it's still gross. But if it came down to saving my life I'll be grateful to have these.My Review Criteria: I do not review anything that I don't want/need for my own personal use and I have enough knowledge about it to provide accurate and useful details. I do tell it like it is and I am not influenced to provide feedback that isn't based on facts or my own experience. I got these thinking they were just for emergency water purification and was very pleased to learn they do a lot more than that. These can also be used to make a sanitizing solution for containers and surfaces.There are lots of instructions included. On the outside sleeve of the box there are simple picture instructions for emergency drinking water sanitation. Then there are more instructions and information on the box under the outside sleeve. There is a FULL paper insert with all the information on the inside of the box. And there is summarized information on each blister pack.The expiration date seems to be about two years. There are 100 tablets individually wrapped in this box. Each tablet can sanitize two and a half gallons of water for drinking. It is a different concentration for cleaning.The blister packs are very light and easy to fit just about anywhere. I can split this box up and put a blister pack into every first aid kit, vehicle, and camping bag I have and still have plenty left over. This is a well designed way to package these. Very convenient.

These water purification tablets come in foil packs with 10 tablets per pack. There are 10 packs in the box for a total of 100 tablets. The outside labeling of this box has instructions on how many tablets to use to purify water. This outside sleeve says one tablet for 2 ½ gallons of water. The inner box labels these tablets as effervescent sanitizing/disinfection tablets. This is a totally different use.The Box gives directions on how to make a sanitizing solution for food handling operations and for sanitizing equipment. There is a small section that instructs you to make a solution of 10 ppm of chlorine for drinking. That is a much more diluted use than the chart on the box. The concentration on the outer wrapper is correct, but there is a high likelihood that the outer wrapper will be lost.The instructions on the foil wrapper are for sanitizing solution not for drinking. Make sure to note this before use.The expiration date on these tablets is 2 years after I received them. They will work fine for purifying water, just make sure to use the right concentration.

These purification tablets will make water safe to drink in 30 minutes. I'm somewhat of a prepper. I have an 8000 gallon swimming pool that will be my fallback water source. I keep it covered, but if something bad DOES happen I'm likely to run out of power once my backup generator runs out of fuel. I'll need something to clean up the water when it sits and stagnates. This is my answer.Each tablet purifies 2 gallons or more of water. The tablets have a shelf life of 5 years. The tablets are designed to purify without a bad taste or odor. I really like that! The tablets eliminates things like E. coli and listeria. I like that even better!
