I guess I got somewhat lucky, because the plumper cut an 8" by 8" hole to get to a water pipe. So, he told me to get one of these an like I said worked perfectly! Just make sure the area that you will cover is within the size stated on the package. Note: they do have larger ones the this one too.

I was looking for covers for an access hole made for some electrical work. The work was done in our garage so i did not want to sheetrock and spackle and paint it as we might need access again in the future. These were reasonably priced. they are very easy to install in holes of various sizes. They come in several sizes so just pick one which covers an opening the size you have. The spring has good tension so it stays in place when installed. We have painted walls in our garage so i painted it with paint i had left from the walls so it matches. It looks great and we have easy access if we need more electrical work done.

Had a big hole after a shower valve repair that I wasn’t ready to patch. This was the perfect solution. Simple product, easy to put in place. It is also easily removable for any future issues. Haven’t painted to match, but should have no problem doing so. And it was cheaper than an identical product at the big box store!

How to make the spring action work
I bought 4 of these to cover up access holes in the ceiling. A common complaint was that the spring action didn't work so that it never gripped the hole and stayed in place. It can be loose, fimbsy and not flush with the ceiling.The best fix for this was when I placed a couple if drops of motor oil in the plastic sliding contraption and a drop on the spring coils. Run it back a forth a few times and it quickly lubricated everything. The spring worked well with good grip on the ceiling. Worked like a charm. It brought the unit from a 2 star to 4 star.After lube, it worked really well.
Great Product
I needed to cover an 8x8 access hole in a closet. This is great and forgiving of exact cutting sizes. It was easy to install.
