I have not noticed an issue with door security, this morning I came out and the little jerk chipmunk had managed to roll the thing down a couple of concrete steps to the lawn. I know he was in there when it happened and the door remained closed. Hes boxed up abnd eager to get to his new home far away for my house. For bait I used a dab natural peanut butter and sunflower seeds dropped on top of that. Seems to work well. Good luck fellow chipmunk hunters!

Does it work you ask??Is it well made do you inquire??Just ask this little buddy of mine and I think he’ll tell you that this is an excellent example of how well it works!!!Don’t worry, he wasn’t harmed by it just relocated to a local park where he can frolic with his friends.Very well made and a simple mechanism, easy to set up. I just use a dab of peanut butter on the trigger and they can’t resist. I stood inside the house and watched this guy circle the trap and go in and eat a little then he came out circled it once more went back in and BOOM! All over but the crying 😿!Highly recommend this of smaller animals!

Caught a mouse after 3 days setting near its entrance to a tunnel in my backyard. Used a tbsp of peanut butter as bait.Here's my longer story: I used glue at first, but the mouse is outdoors, so a flat glue got a bird to stuck before it get the mouse. The bird is no longer there when I checked, only ~10 feathers left. Then I set the glue pad triangular to avoid birds, but I caught a lizard instead. I managed to set the lizard free after spraying cooking oil. Then I bought the two-pack boxes, but the entrance is only 1.5 in, so I had to return them. Now I tried this one and it works. I set it up again for more mice.I didn't leave 5 5-star rating even though it worked, for the following two reasons: 1, the fork is made of soft iron, very easy to be reshaped. It's supposed to bounce back and keep its shape. 2, this is more serious: the horizontal bar is supposed to fall down after the trap is triggered, to lock the door. In reality, it won't. I think it's also due to the material. I recommend the ones with black enamel type of surface, coz they may have a more slippery and stronger system that stays in their supposed location, and slips the bar down when the door is closed. In my case, I think it's only the spring that kept the mouse in; if the mouse is smart enough, it may run out again.

The media could not be loaded. I caught 3 chipmunks in 48 hours and that says something: the second one, probably a young female, as it was not as 'jumpy' as the first caught one, came out of the bushes as I was setting the cage putting some peanuts in it and jumped into the cage - I burst into laughter, as it was so hilarious as if saying 'please catch me, I want to be your pet'!!!!Mind you, all the birds and animals are having a blast in our garden as we feed the 'day shift' of cardinals, robins, golden finches, black birds, doves, squirrels etc and the 'night shift' of racoons and oppossums by placing their nuts/seeds in trays attached to 2 long shepherds' hooks purchased here and their water in gorgeous stone water fountains we purchased for them since we moved here one year ago - with the 'summer' ants now active is more difficult to feed the night shift (a bit hilarious how racoons kick their feet when night ants have a go at them).The trap is easy to set, with a string of elements you use your logic (or instructions in the pack) to put together, however pay attention to the Trap door element (or that metal string in the shape of V) as the initial trap I purchased here was either missing or the wildlife stole it - yes, they steal stuff as they drag it across the garden to either play with it or probably to use it in their nests: it always make me burst into laughter!!!I kind of felt sorry for the young chipmunk as it was so relaxed in my presence and was looking at me eating the remaining nut while we were transporting her to release several miles away from us: they do dig near the house maybe affecting the foundation and many times I imagine chipmunks and mice we also catch (with the glue traps inside the house also purchased here) saying: 'what is wrong with us, you feed everybody but not us'. After all, I like all the wildlife but due to the destruction they create we cannot keep them and since they cannot jump as they used to in the trees we used to put the feeders (only squirrels can climb the tall shepherds' hooks) I guess they are hungrier nowadays.Update: I placed the trap again outside and some 30min later a chipmunk again 'jumped in' as if saying 'can you relocate me please like my mates?' I guess got tired of waiting for some 2 hours until my other half was able to drive to some location and as another chipmunk was 'laughing' at the one in the cage, he decided to push the door and get out. Another lesson I guess: chipmunks can push the door of the cage to get out if they want - make sure you secure that door with a stone if you can only release the chipmunk in a few hours.The other day even a squirrel jumped in - destroyed the cage a bit as it is too tight for a squirrel: stupid mug, had to be greedy and eat the nuts in the trap too, besides the ones we put in their feeders. We also caught a cute doormouse and a small bird, we released straight away. By now, a few weeks later, we caught 17 chipmunks, now catching mainly teenagers left 'splashing' in their dens. I laugh at my other half, calling him 'personal chipmunk driver'.Update: 10 weeks later and we caught around 30 chipmunks, now I am a specialist in chipmunk personalities - I kind of miss their cute, audacious faces always up to stealing and annoying squirrels and birds alike. If any of them will re-appear, I guess the trap will have to be used once again though.

We have had to relocate some chipmunks that were destroying my home's foundation. These are easy to set and completely humane. The hardest part is placing bait without triggering the mechanism, but if you hold the trigger bar on the top with one hand while you place bait inside with the other, it won't release. Once you have caught something, you can pick it up with the released arm that serves as a handle and transport your little critter easily. I could never bear to kill one, so I'm thankful gentle traps like these exist.

These traps work and allow a humanly way of relocating animal.....Caught a skunk, and 6 prairie dogs ...Covered the cage with a wed cold towel and transported them....Trigger is very sensitive to any movement - had a few false door closings but was able to adjustTop bar trigger mechanism....good value ...

Maybe the 🐀 rats are smarter than other places they will walk all around it but won’t go into the trap, built good and the trigger seems to work ok, easy to set up, nice and light weight but they want nothing to do with it no matter what bait we use ,
