I was going to rent one for a couple days, but figures if I could use this one a couple times, it would pay for itself. I removed 4 large re-useable green lawn bags' worth of thatch from my front yard in about an hour. The only hassle is managing the cord, but I expected that choosing a corded version over gas or cordless. After a couple passes, I figured out the best way to navigate the yard so that he cord was never in the way on the next pass.The scarifying blade worked awesome as well for an area that I needed to re-seed . Saved both time, blisters and my back from the hassle of breaking teh surface soil up with a rake.

I originally purchased a dethatching rake and very quickly realized there was no way I would be able to do my entire yard by hand with a rake! So I decided to give this a try, although I absolutely despise dealing with extention cords.This dethatcher is well worth the money and works wonders!!!!!Took me less than 30 minutes to do my front yard, and my yard is fairly large and on an incline. The amount of thatch was insane! I didn't get it all, but for the amount there is, and it got, from one go at a medium setting it was amazing.Super easy to assemble, although the instructions could use some better and more detailed pictures, and also very easy to use (Even with having to maneuver the extension cord).Would buy it again in a heartbeat!

This dethatcher is very lightweight, but requires a heavy duty cord to use it. So there's that to drag around. It does pulls up a great deal of moss and thatch, but it won't get into the depressed areas of your lawn. I hate to fault it for that because - how could it? What that means is those low spots have to be done by hand, so I will proceed to rake them out with my wonderful claw rake and fill the low spots with soil.I'll counter those who complained about how much the bag holds. It has to be emptied about every 25' pass, yes, but it easily pops off so that's still easier than raking by hand. Unless you like raking. I positioned a paper yard bag on each side of my yard and emptied the bag into those on each pass. Worked like a charm.

I have thatched my yard every Spring for years using a commercial thatcher. This is the first time I have used a residential thatcher.This Wen thatcher set me back $135, each rental of the commercial thatcher runs me $55 not including the gas to run it.The results were identical! Both work very well. The commercial thatcher does not include a debris catcher, the Wen has one that sucks! Either way, you are going to be raking!The commercial thatcher is a bit easier to use because of its weight. It hold to the grass better. But that comes at a huge disadvantage, the weight makes it very hard to unload and load from car! For this reason, I am going to call this topic a draw. Having to manipulate the electric cord was a nuisance, but was not unmanageable.The time taken to thatch my modest sized lawn was a bit more for the Wen, but that does not include hour each way to go to the rental facility and pickup/deliver the thatcher. This is a huge win for the Wen!So, the ultimate win/lose will be how long it lasts. Clearly the thousand dollar commercial unit is designed to last for a decade or more of commercial use. It is a better unit in every way, but the Wen is so cheap that all it has to do is get three uses to make it win the comparison. Will it last that long? I am betting yes. But even using it only once a year, I would be shocked if it lasted 10 years. It is not well made, it is going to die. But until it does, I am very happy with it!

Well ... just wow! Love it. I've never owned - or even used - an electrict dethatcher before but I'm shocked at how well this machine works. I'll give you my only con first: I hate that it's corded. If you can figure out a pattern where you're not always tripping over your cord, it's great! On the plus side, it's light, simple easy to use, low noise and ... wait for it ... does the job! (I always like it when a product does what it claims.) I used the dethatcher first and filled up four yard waste bags. Then I did the scarifier. Holy Cow! I filled up 11 more bags plus a large can. I think if I lowered it and went back again, it might be even better - but by now I'm wiped out. I did this as a prelude to overseeing. Great machine.

I have only used the dethatching feature so far and that worked very well for me. In dethatching mode the bin is too small as it fills up in about one pass across my lawn.This product was easy to set up and I had not issues dethatching about 3000 sq. ft. of my lawn.Of course dragging the power cord around is annoying but that is the problem with all electric outdoor tools.

I was amazed at how well this machine works. I used the De- Thatching blade and it removed so much thatch, it was just great. The only thing that that isn't so great is the small catcher. It doesn't hold much and needs to be emptied often. I filled 3 tall paper grass bags packed down just from my small front yard!!

Worked wonders for my lawn, much better than raking pine needles and old leaves - easy to assemble the handle and swap out the thatcher and scarifier as needed. The thatching things and scarifier blade could have been a bit longer by 1 inch. They are 3 inches. Fills up quickly, basket is too small. It is quite light and plasticy - not sure about durability first WEN purchase.
