Realistically it can only hold half or even a quarter full. Before it's too heavy. I have a ton of moss and it got most not all. I'll have to hit it again in the fall. But it got about 95% of it. So I'm impressed. The CORD please I beg you please come up with another model with battery! There is only one available on the market and it's alway sold out. 🥺 what a game changer that would be. I'm constantly maneuvering the cord. The wheels are also very confusing. One is higher than the other. I mean you figure out a method but it's very awkward to handle. I manage but your hands be killing after a while. The machine works just little things that can be adjusted in the future. 👍

After trying to dethatch my lawn for a couple weekends with a metal rake, I stumbled across these electric thatchers and decided to give the Wen a try. I chose the Wen over others because I am familiar with their low price point woodworking tools that are generally of good quality. Well… it works exactly as advertised, and using on the heavily thatched areas, it pulls up a lot of material, at leaves the healthy turf. Awesome, goodbye metal ! The height adjustment is convenient and there’s a travel setting that lets you move it without the combs digging into the turf. There’s a spring loaded back door that is closed when the bag is off. I wish there was a feature that let you prop this open because the amount of dead grass coming out of my lawn built up behind the door and then I had to sort of lift the machine over it. I ended up finding my own way to prop the door open and I was good to go. I bought the plug-in model so of course I had to deal with the long extension cord, and constantly move around it But that’s not a mark against this product. You can fold the handle down for storage, but you have to unscrew each side and kind of finagle it to fold over then tighten it up again. I’ve given it four stars, as I’m happy with its performance not sure about durability yet it is a little on the plasticy side.Now, if they’d only make a product that would gather in bag all the piles of dead grass I’d be a very happy man indeed!

Wow....I'm Impressed!! Just received my dethatcher today, and couldn't wait to put it to use. Took maybe 20 minutes to unbox and assemble it. I plugged it in, turned it on, and within 6 or 8 feet of movement I was in awe of how much thatch it was kicking up. Wow...very impressive. I ended up doing my entire front yard and using my bagging mower to pick up all the thatch. I didn't even try the included bagger since it isn't very large and seemed more cumbersome to attach and remove than the one on my mower. My front yard is about 4,500 square feet, and I'll get i emptied the bag at least 30 times...maybe more. I still have the backyard to do.... that's tomorrow's project. Make sure to use a 12/3 extension cord to keep the voltage drop to a minimum or else the motor could heat up under load and shut down, or fail prematurely.

The directions were not very detailed for putting this together. But with a tiny bit of common sense, along with the picture, I was able to get it put together easily. Once together, it worked flawlessly to detach my lawn. Again, the directions were very detailed on how to switch from the scarifier to the dethatching attachment. But, all you have to do is remove the two screws that hold the attachment in. Remover the plastic retaining piece. And pull the attachment toward the side that was originally screwed down. Due to the thickness of thatch, I used the scarifier and removed a literal truck load of thatch from my lawn. I was very skeptical about this item and boy was I surprised how well it worked. Once I found the proper height for my lawn, it raked through the thick thatch with ease. The bag isn’t very good due to the size. I attempted to use it without the bag and it created even more labor than having to empty the bag frequently.

Love this dethatcher/scarifier combo! This machine is awesome! Is the bag worthless? Absolutely yes. Especially if you’ve never dethatched or scarified. I used this on my 6000 square foot lawn that I’m sure hasn’t been done in the 20 years my house has been built. I started off with the dethatcher, and then scarified before redoing my lawn. The amount of material that came up… my goodness!!! I had to split up my yard waste pick up over two weeks because I maxed out on lawn waste bags that my garbage pick up takes. It was incredible. And the recovery of my lawn… went from brown to the green that grass should be in a matter of a few days. If your lawn looks rough and brown, use this!!! You will not be disappointed!!!

I found that 14 gauge worked fine although 12 gauge is recommended.The button on the side starts the motor and the orange power handle keeps it locked on.The handle is good to hold on top or on the side.The optional bag will fill up quickly because the bag is not too big.Any dethatcher, by design, does not have large enough blades to create the airflow required to fill up a large bag anyways.Even the professional $3000 gas dethatchers (that you can rent) dont have a bag.So don't judge ANY dethatcher by its bagging capacity.The noise is equivilent to a shop vacuum.Hearing protection not required but advised.This was very effective on my lawn and it took about the same time as cutting the lawn.For the homeowner who wants to dethatch and/or scarify twice a year this works well and should last many years.I chose corded because its better for the environment and noise, and you dont want to run out of batteries in the middle of dethatching or scarifying.My lawn is 5,000 ft2. A long cord needed but worked non-stop with no problems.

Máquina potente y funcional de diseño bonito y moderno. Vi comentarios que la bolsa se llenaba muy rápido y que debería ser más grande pero pienso que es adecuado el tamaño; el problema es que si vas a escarificar antes debes de podar lo más corto posible el césped y con esto se evita que se llene tan rápido la bolsa. No conocía la marca y me gustó además de que el precio es muy competitivo, motivo por el cual voy a ver que otros productos tiene Wen.

Dethatcher works well but collector too small and spills out onto lawn. Leave it off and collect later. Scarifier too aggressive on a typical uneven lawn. May work for some but even when set positive, machine runs away as too light and acts like a tiller. Body is all plastic - thought the description on Bolo stated metal(?). Motor is powerful so would recommend this just for the dethatching option. You’ll still need a rake as cannot get to tight spots etc. See videos on YouTube for set up as very easy. Management of the cord is OK and I used a loooong cord - no issues.
