I think the difference was that they had been taken care of and were not as dried out. The balm was easy and pleasant to apply - I used a microfiber cloth and then buffed it with some horsehair brushes. I don't know if that actually did anything, but it was fun. The balm smells amazing. It's very subtle and doesn't linger. It isn't irritating on your skin. The leather seems softer and smoother. I bought this initially to put on a leather bag that I had recolored. I let the color dry for a few days and then put this on it and it went on wonderfully and gave it a nice finish. I also put it on a new to me vintage leather briefcase. That was in pretty good shape already, but it buffed over a few scratches and worn places by the handle really nicely.The bag in the first picture - I have had this bag for over 16 years. My dad picked it up for me at Goodwill. I used it as a school bag daily in college, and as a diaper bag with all of my five kids. Since I got it I have never done any type of leather care for it. I didn't know that was a thing. You can see that is was pretty scuffed up and uneven, and there were some deeper cracks on the handles in areas. The treatment definitely revitalized the leather, it looks even better in person. I don't usually write reviews - I hope this is helpful to someone! I thought it was kinda fun and very satisfying, actually. Now I want to find more treat with it.

I have a few leather bound journals, one leather purse and this leather passport cover that I bought this leather conditioner for. I’ve only used it on the passport cover so far but I like it. The smell is light and pleasant and it’s easy to apply. When it’s freshly applied, it darkens the leather considerably but as it dries/soaks into the item, the color lightens a bit. I’m personally not bothered by the change in color in the slightest but I know some people have issues/preferences when it comes to this. As you can see in my pictures, the lighter side is the color before applying the conditioner and the darker side is freshly applied. It does not make this particular item softer or shiny at all. I have yet to try the waterproofness of it but seeing as most of my items aren’t shoes or things needing that function, it’s not a huge concern. I will try it when I use it on my purse but it’s new and doesn’t need to be conditioned yet.

Oooo! Its good, Looks clean, Looks like its protected and last longer. Good price!, Comfort and mess slippery. Its gets the job done!. Not much instruction but what I did was apply to any leather. Wait 45 mins, then with a fiber cloth, wipe all around.

Left white spots in perforated leather car seat. Tip: use toothpicks to to every hole to take white dots out Lots of work.

Completely re hydrated/conditionedn my leather sofas and hid the few pin holes. Great buy. ive done a sofa and love seat twice, Barely used a quarter of the container.

There were a few scuffs on a leather purse that I have and I applied a small amount of this leather protector, and the scuffs disappeared. Great product.

I have some leather bags that I am pretty picky on what I use to condition them with. I had a really good conditioning product that was looking and feeling a bit too old to keep using, so I tossed it and went in search of a replacement. Settled on this product. It goes on smooth, soaks in well, and does not have an unpleasant scent. My leather looks brand new again. It is a very small tin, but it only takes a little. I would use this on smooth or pebbled leather bags, shoes, belts, etc. First photo is before conditioning. Second photo after a light rub of the product.
