I had a competitors brand for about 2 days and it started losing parts. Cap fell off repeatedly and then of course vanished.I purchased two of these sets and within a week, both sets vanished. Gone gone gone. Looked everywhere and all I can assume is someone needed them more than me. Budget wise they were a little bit of a splurge, but after using them on wood, steel and even rocks , they work and work better than any marking tool I've ever used and I've been in the trades and have owned businesses for over 40 years. Hands down, if you are a carpenter, plumber, electrician, Mason, bricklayer, drywaller, or just like pencils LOL I couldn't recommend these more. I absolutely HAVE TO purchase more of these sets. Next tine though, Ill guard em' with my life and if anyone tries to walk away with em'......the one and only thing that would put these over 5 stars if there was a holster clip for it. Even then , that's not a complaint.

Excellent mechanical pencils!As I prepared to load lead into the mechanical pencils, I found both of the pencils were preloaded...very nice! I changed out the red color pencil's standard graphite for a red graphite. Then the next step, test the writing quality. Both were as good as some of our office's engineering mech pencils.Took both to my woodshed later and made use of them immediately. VERY nice to be able to get the marker tip as close as possible to an outline. Example: A 1.5" diameter hole in 1" thick wood used as a template to make additional pieces for drilling. Pencil tip capable in getting as close to outline of template than any method I have used before. Follow directions as to extending graphite too far and breaking tip, Like any marker, think before applying pressure.As another nice bonus in the package, an extra mechanical pencil end cap w/sharpener. Just in case the user, me, drops and loses an end cap. Very thoughtful gesture from the manufacturer!

I've been using this Nicpro carpenter pencil set for a few weeks now and I’m seriously impressed. The pencils feel sturdy and well-made, and the 2.8mm leads glide smoothly even on rough surfaces. I love the variety of refills — graphite, red, and yellow — which are perfect for marking different materials. The case keeps everything organized, and the built-in sharpener is super handy (and actually works well). I do a lot of woodworking and this set makes layout and marking fast, accurate, and clean. If you’re a builder, DIYer, or just like quality tools, this set is a no-brainer.

They are good quality and he uses them all the time, easy to sharpen, they look amazingEasy to store and in case and they come with 26 refills for carpenters marking wood. Also comes with a sharpener.and is easy to use. Nice and sharp and good quality pencils, deep hole marker. Heavy duty great value for money. Nice and string and easy to use . He might wish I hadn't bought them as now he is having to make me lots of things .. I'm loving it. Garden tubs, rabbit hutches. Great for any carpenter or architect. DIY. Black and Red. Highly recommended.
