Description:
Application of Apple Pectin:
1.Apple pectin for jelly:
The role of apple pectin is to impart a texture to the jam or jelly, which gives a good flavor.
The use concentrations for pectin vary from 0.1-0.4%.
2.Fruit preparations for yogurt:
Apple pectin can create a soft, partly thixotropic gel texture, sufficiently firm to ensure
uniform fruit distribution out still allowing the fruit preparation to be easily stirred into the
yogurt. The use concentrations vary from 0.5-1.2%.
3.Fruit drink concentrates:
In this application the gelation is apparent in the end product only as a thickening effect,
as the coherent gel texture has been broken mechanically to obtain a smooth flow.
We recommend the use concentrations vary from 0.1-0.5%.
4.Confectionery products
Apple pectin is mainly used within the confectionery industry for making fruit jellies and
jelly centers, flavored with natural fruit constituents and synthetic flavors. The use
concentrations vary from 0.7-1.5%.
5.Milk products:
Apple pectin is utilized to stabilize sour milk products either cultured or produced by
direct acidification. The use concentrations vary from 0.1-0.7%.
Review:
4.0 out of 5 stars Well, that was disappointing...
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Imagine my disappointment when I added this pectin to my beautiful pink-hued rhubarb juice (for rhubarb jelly) and it turned an unsavory shade of brown (trying to keep it PG). Don't get me wrong, all the other attributes touted in the description were accurate and it looks like it will gel nicely, but the presentation of brown jelly as part of my holiday gift baskets is less than appealing. I did give it 4 stars as it seems to be a wonderful product that works well. Maybe I should have done more research before mixing the apple with the tart rhubarb - some weird reaction, perhaps?
1.0 out of 5 stars Thicken powder for nothing
Useless powder to thicken stuff if you need to thicken stuff that doesn't already have thickener then maybe you need this I dont
1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible product
the product does not work. after using 2 tablespoons per pound of ingredients really hard to dissolve, even in a very hot liquid. It is made in CHINA! will not purchase again!
2.0 out of 5 stars made in China, too dark
It's made in China! And it's too dark, it changes the color of the jam. It tastes sour. Where did the good American pectin go?
1.0 out of 5 stars No good
won't dissolve in water
4.0 out of 5 stars Good for fillings
I used this to thicken up a pie filling. It seems to work pretty well. It did take a little effort to dissolve, but then it did thicken up nicely. I don’t notice any weird tastes and I didn’t have any issues with it.
2.0 out of 5 stars Bitter and clumpy powder
I have ordered this product before without problems. This last time, the apple pectin powder was extremely bitter and did not dissolve in water when stirred. Previous orders had a neutral but not unpleasant taste. Also, previous orders had the powder dissolving easily in water when stirred. This time, the powder clumped into bitter globular. I take apple pectin to aid my digestion, at the direction of my GI medical practioner. This last batch was so bad, I was tempted not to take it, but I did. Having to take this three times a day took a lot of will dissapointing. but it shoul not be that way. Very dissapointing.
1.0 out of 5 stars Made in China
Look, this product is made in China. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have purchased it. Nothing indicates where it is sourced or made until I received it. Deliberate attempt to conceal the origin of the product. Consumers should know what they are getting— honesty is paramount!
