4.0 out of 5 stars Affordable, Portable, Powerful and Great Value.
The Techwood Hot Plate Portable Electric Stove is a fantastic little appliance that delivers excellent value for the price. I’ve purchased several of these over the years, and overall, they’ve been a reliable and convenient addition to my kitchen at home and events.First off, the performance is impressive. Comparable to commercial electric stove. With 1500 watts of power, this hot plate heats up quickly and provides consistent cooking temperatures. The adjustable temperature control works well, allowing me to fine-tune the heat for everything from simmering sauces to boiling water. The compact and portable design is another big plus. It’s lightweight and doesn’t take up much space, making it perfect for small kitchens or even cooking for events in tights spaces. The stay-cool handles are a thoughtful addition, making it safe and easy to move the hot plate around, even when it’s been in use for a while. However, I’m giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 because of its durability. While most of the units I’ve purchased have worked well, one or two had a shorter lifespan than expected. They stopped functioning properly after about a year of regular use, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the majority of them have held up just fine, and for the price, I still think it’s a great deal.Overall, the Techwood Hot Plate is a solid choice for anyone looking for an affordable, portable, and efficient cooking solution. It’s not perfect in terms of longevity, but it definitely gives you the best bang for your buck.
5.0 out of 5 stars Arrived on time. Works as described. Good value for price.?
Sturdy, well made and sleek looking. It has Handles so you can lift and move even while burners are hot. Both burners heat up nicely. They’re well spaced so you can have a 8 qt pot next to a small fry pan or 2 1/2 qt sauce pot. The underside doesn’t heat up. Good value for price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great electric burner!
Love love love this hot plate! Heats up fast and water comes to a boil as fast as my electric water pot (Cuisinart). Definitely need the 1500 watts. The 2 burner is 1800 and takes longer to cook. I have the 2 burner red. I will purchase another 1 burner once it goes on sale!
1.0 out of 5 stars Title: Disappointing Experience with the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove
I recently purchased the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove with high hopes for a convenient and efficient cooking solution, but unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. One of the major drawbacks is the inconsistent heating performance. Despite the 1800W power rating, the burners seem to struggle to reach and maintain the desired temperature. Cooking times are prolonged, and achieving even heat distribution across cookware has proven to be a challenge. This inconsistency has significantly impacted the quality of my cooking, leading to frustration and disappointment. The build quality of the electric stove also leaves much to be desired. The materials used feel flimsy, and the overall construction lacks durability. The adjustable temperature control, while present, seems imprecise and unreliable, making it difficult to achieve the desired cooking results. The stay-cool handles, advertised as a feature, don't effectively dissipate heat, posing a safety concern during use.Another issue is the limited size of the 7.5" cooktop. While it may be suitable for some basic cooking tasks, it proves impractical for larger pots and pans, restricting the versatility of the appliance. This limitation was not clearly communicated in the product description, leading to unexpected challenges in preparing meals of various sizes.Furthermore, the compatibility claim with all cookwares falls short of reality. The heating elements seem to struggle with certain materials, resulting in uneven cooking and potential damage to cookware. This lack of compatibility undermines the versatility promised by the product. In terms of portability, the Techwood Electric Stove falls short of expectations. While it's marketed as a portable solution for RVs, homes, and camps, the bulkiness and awkward design make it less convenient to transport than anticipated. The lack of a secure and compact storage solution adds to the overall disappointment. In conclusion, the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove has not lived up to my expectations, and I cannot recommend it based on my experience. The issues with inconsistent heating, subpar build quality, limited cooktop size, and questionable compatibility with cookware make it a less-than-ideal choice for those seeking a reliable and versatile portable cooking solution.
3.0 out of 5 stars Do not purchase for boiling water for any sort of cooking.
The first time I used this was to cook meatballs. I first preheated the burner then used my 12 in cast iron skillet and it worked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised. My second use was to boil water for pasta. This is not suitable for boiling water. I preheated the burner for 5 minutes on high. Then I measured 4 cups of water and put it on to boil. 25 minutes later I still did not have a rolling boil. There was a barely visible bubbling on the bottom of the pan.

Convenient and large enough element for a big soup pot
I loved my appliance but a few things don’t lastI bought this in 2003 and was happy rated 5 starsThe heat stays in the cast iron elements for a long time which is good if you wish to turn every thing off and keep a dish simmering for a while. The elements are a good size too for bigger pots and are similar size ( guessing ) to a regular stove.Other hot plates I’ve looked at have smaller elements. The large element is able to support my largest soup pot easily. You do have to be patient as the cast iron takes a bit longer to heat right up but it retains the heat longer ( can switch off and still have cooking continue )They do get a little discoloured with time, but mine are still black : just a little bit worn looking,The on off switches work and there are indicator lights that come on for each element , the click sound ( on off ) is still good .The large element click-sound is now a bit faint and the directional diagram around the knob is wore off after a year. but I make sure that I turn the dial all the way to the left and that the light goes off.Above all, I was super happy that this appliance fit into my plan to get rid of my bulky conventional stove and oven. The Teakwood appliance looks “sharp” on my stainless steel prep table and set-up was super easy. The cord is long enough ( yay ) and I have it going toward the wall and down the back of the stainless steel prep table into a “ multi plug stove power adapter” ( also from Bolo ) that accommodates this appliance but also my air fryer /convection oven too.Side Handles : great for easy moving to clean underneath ( just lift on one end ).The four feet are well made and sturdy and easy to attach the fuzzy protectors on them if needed.Ease of use ease of use : very good . Value for money is goodUpdate . July 2025The indicator light cover broke offI think I can glue it back onThe light still works tho
Works great
I had never used a hotplate before. At first I thought it didn't work as it takes a minute to heat up, but once it does, you would think you were cooking on a stove.
Very Handy
I have used mine many times since buying a few months ago. Some reviews had mentioned boiling water takes forever. I find boiling water on the bigger hot plate (right side) is comparable to using a stove, and cooks very efficiently. The smaller burner on the left is good for regular cooking on medium or low. However I find the smaller burner frustratingly slow for boiling water or cooking on higher temps. Not a big deal for the most part- I just use the bigger burner. Overall quite happy with this purchase.
Disappointing
Doesnt heat up. Disappointing purchase. Small coil doesnt work at all and big one works one day and next day it doesnt atAll.
excellent product
Have had for over a year now, works perfectly. Two burner sizes. A Surprisingly excellent product
