Car ramp
The media could not be loaded. A car ramp to help dogs get into vehicles. I have seen dogs use these in the past but people that have then have not been impressed because their dog wouldn't use it. So I was unsure what to expect when it arrived. It folds up to a compact size but even so I had difficulty fitting it behind the passenger seat but it did fit with a bit of manipulation. It is designed to hold more than 75kg so it isn't as heavy as I thought it would be but despite that it is very strong. It unfolds in 4 sections the top and bottom unfold easily the middle 2 took a bit of pushing but once unfolded it stayed as one piece which is another advantage. It simply props on the top of the back bumper and does stay in position. It took a few attempts but once my 5 month puppy got the idea he was happy to walk up and down the ramp in and out of the car and seems much happier doing that than have me help him in. Overall the ramp works perfectly to do the job it is designed for and happily recommend it to anyone who has a dog. I am planning to train my older dog to use it because you never know when he may be unable to jump into the car due to old age, illness or accident. A very good product fit for purpose.
Not nonslip! Won't straighten out easily plastic cheaply made.
Cheaply made plastic in centre doesn't fit to straighten it out also not nonslip.
WALKING UP AND DOWN....
I have a Bull Mastiff dog and it is a bit of a struggle getting her into my Jeep Renegade car. I do have a ramp which I bought a long time ago for a previous dog, but it is quite bulky and only telescopes to half it's size, which limits it's usefulness.I was happy to try this ramp, when I read it is suitable for larger and heavier breed dogs, and 4x4 cars. The weight maximum it will hold is 75kg, which is more than adequate for my dog.The ramp arrived today, and I am so impressed by it's design, appearance and utility. Firstly, the folded size is only slightly larger than a pilot's briefcase, and has a built in carry handle. The case opens from the middle and then from each end, making a sturdy ramp. One end is fitted with 2 legs which fit on the car boot and aid in stabilising the ramp. The Ramp surface itself is ridged at regular intervals, and these increase it's strength but also provide something for the dog's paws to grip onto.. In addition, all the surface areas are made coarse which again improves the dog's gripping power when walking up the ramp into a car. After use, the ramp ends can be folded back and the ramp folded in half ready to carry. The whole thing is held closed by a simple bar at each end which can be moved across and clamps onto a stud. This ramp is simple to operate, and the ingenuity of the design is excellent. It is lightweight and can be stored easily inside the car for continued use on journeys. Easy to clean too, as all surfaces would wipe down when muddy, or I would use the garden hose if it needed a more thorough clean. This ramp is just what I wanted and my dog likes it too !
Makes life easier for the dogs
We have 2 Basset Hounds and it is not and easy task lifting nearly 30Kgs twice into the boot of the car. One is getting on a bit now and can not even jump his front legs into the boot to help so needed to be completely lifted in and the younger one, even though she can jump in, likes to be lifted so she can cuddle. So having the chance to try this ramp was brilliant.Starting with the negatives, it is very boxy and takes up a lot of space so sits on the back seat of our car. The only other slightly negative is it is ALL plastic even the non slip pattern. this still makes it slippy for dogs with longer nails. This was the only issue we had with the older dog he was very unsure especially when his paws slipped, however with an encouraging hand and the enticement of a treat he does go up.The positives are that it is very sturdy and when it is fully unfolded you can tell it isn't going to bend easily. The younger dog runs up and down it no problems and the older one once he starts will go up and down no problem. The rubber grips are brilliant for holding it ion place and not damaging your car. When it fold up there are 2 clips on the side to hold it all together, it is very stiff to start with but soon loosens up to move freely. We would highly recommend this product especially at this price.
