I would say it's just like I remember but in the 70s I only had two small ones brand new. The mighty dump I had a long with the mighty crane I got very used, dented, battered and rusty, salvaged from trash and was still thrilled to have them.I opted for this one instead of the more expensive one with a little more steel which is still not the same as original.It is awesome. The plastic parts are thick and designed with ....for lack of better words...braces and buttresses to make it super sturdy. I think this is a fine product for anyone. A kid, teen, adult....A lot of the thin or sharp under pieces are now plastic so...hey.... less chances of tetanus or cuts.This morning I cought the cat asleep in the bed but couldn't get a pic fast enough.To people who say things like....four months later they were starting to rust and paint was peeling....guess what....that's also what happened to the ones in the 1970s left outside. The old ones may have rusted more over the decades but scratched steel rusts period. I think a prime reason we left them outside is they're just huge. I know my mom refused to let me bring in the rusty, muddy, dented things.At this price point it's even a nice nostalgic gift for someone in their 50s or 60s. Load it with old fashioned candy and gift it. Will absolutely bring happiness.No need to complain it isn't the exact same. Most things are not 55 years later but THIS is a very fine modern rendition that is absolutely HUGE. Even I had forgotten exactly how big these things are to hold.Get one.

My son has an obsession with tow trucks and this one is perfect! The metal body is what sold us on this purchase! Durable and can take a good hit from a crazy little boy. No battery needed, makes no noise besides the ones my son makes. Moves easy, and I do believe the design is done well. If you have a boy obsessed with tow trucks this one is the ultimate choice versus the terrible crappy plastic ones. This has plastic but it’s not full plastic!

Another hit from Tonka! My son is in love with this tow truck its built really well and can handle rough play. The tow cable retracts making it fun to pretend to tow cars. It's not too large so it's easy to store.

My only wish is that Tonka made more products. Bought my son the 4x4 Tonka truck and he loves it. He has a lot of toy trucks, but the metal framed Tonka is by far his favorite. He's rough with his toys and the Tonka def holds up. Leave it outside, throw rocks at it, roll it down the stairs, crash it into walls, the Tonka takes it all with a smile!

A lot more plastic on this and then what I thought for a classic steel Tonka truck. It’s getting a higher rating just because my grandson loved it.

Gave this to my 2 year old son on his birthday, he loves it and plays with it every day. It is indeed, heavy duty. He likes us to push him around it in like his own personal chariot! We haven't brought it outside yet, but I assume this will end up being used outside all summer long. I wish it was all metal, but it is mostly plastic, with the main area of the dump being made of metal, I knew this when I bought it, though . Seems to be well made, and I expect it to hold up well for a while. If you're looking for a toy that will be well loved by a 2-5 year old, you can't go wrong with a dump truck!

Let me begin by saying you could never go wrong buying a Tonka toy. I still have my sons that are over 50 years old! With that said, I bought two of these for my nephews that were supposed to arrive on their birthday tomorrow. It had promised May 6 delivery and so I chose this truck. I just checked my order and they will not be arriving for their birthday tomorrow. Had I known that, I would have chosen something else. Why promise when you can’t deliver? I still gave it five stars because the toy itself and the company , serves the five stars. It is the system that stinks.

Best toy ever !
Best toy investment ever !! We had one previously that got stolen from our sxs and knew we had to replace it , my grandson took this to the beach every time we went and he uses it everyday out in the snow now !!! Hands down the wisest choice we’ve made in a toy purchase!! My only regret is Tonka doesn’t have another toy of the same size and quality as this one !!! My grandson is 3
