Is it super sturdy? Not necessarily, it’s got a little wiggle. But I don’t think it really needs to be. It’s not like you’re gonna moving it and pushing it around. But the wood for the bottom and top shelf are thick and sturdy! The size is great! Love the top shelf, light and outlets! It’s easy to put together. I did it by myself in a room.I would recommend putting a the bottom part together first, including wooden desk tops, then top part. If you put the peg board on first the desk tops is hard to slide on. Also the littlest screws are for the handles, the longer flat top screws are for the top shelf.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter work bench, just what I needed!
I had been using the bottom of a shelving unit (see pic) for years as my work/tool bench. It was small and flimsy but did the job, kinda. I finally realized it was time to grow up and get a real bench and I settled on this unit from Bolo. Overall, it is a fantastic bench at a very good price. I wasn't in a hurry to get it when I ordered it so the month long shipping time wasn't a big deal, but to my happy surprise it arrived in less than 2 weeks. It comes flat packed and is fairly heavy so I would recommend having at least 2 people move it. The outside of the box was a bit banged up, but the contents were unharmed and all parts were there. It comes with instructions which are fairly good but pay close attention to the pictures, instructions and the orientation of the parts when you are attaching them. It can make a big difference if it is backwards although it's not always obvious that it is until you go to attach a later part. I found attaching the upper shelf part that hangs out over the bench and the light attaches to, difficult to put together in the right order. Pay close attention during that part of the assembly and recruit a helper if you can.Pros:- Looks really nice- high quality parts- solid construction (no wobble or flexing)- LED light included to light work surface- Outlet with 3 "plug ins" integrated into right side of bench with long cord attached- Upper shelf is recessed so unsightly things can be stored and hidden and the chance of objects falling off is minimal- Work surface is thick, solid and textured for less slip and coated so spills will not soak in. It can also be drilled into to attach a vice for example- there are 2 drawers that are wide and long, although not very deep. They are great for storing boxes of nails and screws, but you could also order some utensil organizers to use for storing various tools.Cons:- I would say I'm pretty versed at putting furniture, shelving units, engines etc together and this took me much longer than I had expected. It was probably between 4 and 5 hours all said and done (not counting breaks). It wasn't complicated, just a lot of small bolts and nuts to put in and tighten, often from weird angles.- I wish the back of the bench was about a foot taller, giving you more space on the peg board but still allowing a person of average height to reach the shelf.- The peg board material isn't as robust as I'd like, however I believe it should be sufficient to hold any regular hand tools hung from it. It might be stretching it to hang a drill with a heavy battery though.- Putting together the upper shelf and making sure it was level was more difficult that it needed to be. If possibly have another person hold the shelf level while you tighten the bolts. I didn't have anyone available at the time unfortunately. In sum, I really like this bench so far. It is solid enough for my needs, it looks great, it created a lot of storage and opportunity for tool organization and the size of the work surface is perfect. I highly recommend this bench for storing tools or craft supplies and it gives you a plenty of area to do projects. It shipped faster than expected and packaging is tough enough to take a beating but protect the contents. Also, it came with all needed hardware and included some extras just in case. You will need a phillips head screwdriver and a small adjustable crescent wrench for assembly.
4.0 out of 5 stars It’ll do
The media could not be loaded. When you start putting it together, you’re gonna ask yourself why you bought such a cheap pos. It’s tedious. But when it’s all put together, it ain’t that bad. Especially for the price. The drawers are probably the worst part about it and I won’t be putting anything heavy in them.. But if you just need a basic, budget friendly work station to tinker, this isn’t bad at all. I’d buy it again.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's 150.00
Ok I'll be as brutally honest as possible and give some building tips.First it's a 150 workbench that holds 350 lbs. Don't expect a lot. Is it sturdy? Yes. Will it collect the stuff that 50% of us were to lazy to put away last time and now have to spend 2 hours cleaning off before we can use it? Yes.Will it support the transmission from the early 2000 Chevy Malibu your son bought off a stripper outside the base for 850 when you told him it wasn't a good idea? No.... but it will hold the book while you scream at him to hold the light and cause him to need therapy. It took me about an hour to put together, then about 30 min tightening the bolts down. It was easily a 1 person job although it would be easier with 2 people in some spots, but unfortunately it's too soon for my son to feel safe helping me in the garage. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver and a 7, 8, and 10mm socket. A box wrench is ok for about half of it but a socket with an extension will make it go faster. Finger tighten the bolts until you get the table tops bolted down, everything else you can tighten it down when you put them on. The table top is laminated and probably won't last more than a year or two but I plan on just replacing it with a half inch sheet of plywood when I do. The light isn't very bright like it's been said but you can easily put a brighter one in it's place or yell at a kid to hold a flashlight and quit moving. The drawers seem sturdy but the holes for the handles (which are plastic) aren't big enough for the hardware it says to use. I may drill the holes bigger or just grab some smaller bolts and hardware the next time I run to Lowes.Really I bought this to house some tools, lose at least 5 or 6 10mm sockets, (misplaced the one I used to build it) and have somewhere to work on the parts I pull off my motorcycle. I won't be anchoring a vice on it but for 150.00 it exceeded my expectations. If the manufacture is reading this, I appreciate you putting that the lip is always installed up after every step, but I would suggest putting it in bold at least twice. I just kind of ignored it in it's regular font until I started installing the drawers and thought this doesn't look right.
