Directions
If you are under 18, ask a doctor before use, as no studies have been done to confirm this product will work for you; also read the enclosed User’s Guide for complete directions before you start. Begin using the lozenge on your quit day: if you smoke your first cigarette within 30 minutes of waking, use the 4 mg nicotine lozenge; if you smoke more than 30 minutes after waking, use the 2 mg nicotine lozenge. Follow this 12-week schedule: 1 lozenge every 1 to 2 hours for weeks 1–6, 1 lozenge every 2 to 4 hours for weeks 7–9, and 1 lozenge every 4 to 8 hours for weeks 10–12. Place the lozenge in your mouth and let it dissolve slowly over about 20–30 minutes, occasionally moving it from one side of your mouth to the other — you may feel a warm or tingling sensation, and you should minimize swallowing and never chew or swallow the lozenge. Avoid eating or drinking for 15 minutes before use and while a lozenge is in your mouth, and for best results use at least 9 lozenges a day for the first 6 weeks. Do not use more than one lozenge at a time or use them back-to-back, as this can cause hiccups, heartburn, nausea, or other side effects; do not use more than 5 lozenges in 6 hours or more than 20 lozenges in a day. It’s important to complete the full course of treatment; if you feel you need the lozenge longer to stay smoke-free, talk to your health care provider.
