It's enough for a small meal on its own, or could be paired with something else to really fill you up. It's definitely hearty and delicious, especially when you are camping. Having Mountain House meals like this while camping/hunting/hiking is amazing. There's nothing like being able to boil some water, add it to a pouch, then having what tastes like a nice home cooked meal while you are out in the wilderness. Especially in the winter! They are expensive though, so look for the sales. But the fact that it's good for 30+ years makes it worth it. I love this stuff!

Has good beef flavor out of the package though I usually add a pound or so of browned ground beef to mine. I also find it a little bland but adding personal flavor accents should be routine for anyone that likes things a little spicier. Quick and easy to make, I keep several on the shelf for times I'm not feeling well or I just feel like beef stew. Like most dehydrated foods the flavor tends to be more robust a day or two after preparing.

This one gets all five stars.I'm just feeding myself out at weekend vending events and while this is supposed to be for two, even at a mere 118lbs, i can take down the whole thing and be comfortably full (i do burn a lot of calories out there)Flavor wise, it is very good. Not as awesome as what i make in my slow cooker, but very good. Lots of peas (best part if you ask me).Texture is ok...the potato in it contributes to a starchy gravy and the beef doesn't seem to fully hydrate. Not a dealbreaker by any means. These meals are meant to supply calories while camping so they do go above & beyond in every other area, especially flavor.This meal goes on my list of staples for trips and i'll probably add it to my home stock of emergency meals. Worth a try if you like stew

Tested several of these for the first time for an upcoming road trip this summer. All meals were awesome and look forward to testing more from this brand. I think they got the portions down correctly for two people, and this is an extremely cost-effective option for meals that just need hot water And keeping it simple while on the road.

First MRE I ever ate. Bought for hurricane kit. The taste is ok but texture of some of the ingredients is bland. Ordered several flavors and they were all about the same. If you have no power or are camping, you will be glad to have them.Preparation is easy but don't expect them to taste like a home cooked meal. They are filling, light weight, and easy storage and have a long shelf life.
