I happen to stumble on Start-X Remote Starters when looking at DIY car maintenance for my wife's minivan. I was impressed at how simple the installation was and did a Google search to confirm my car was supported. Sure my car is 9 years old and I debated if it was worth buying a remote starter. Comfort of getting into a cool car in the summer and a warm car in the winter was the deciding factor why I gave this a shot.I opted for the Settings Enabled version that costs a little more since it had notes that my 2016 Ford Fusion SE 2.5L was supported. I thought it included the hood pin but that was not provided. The remote start unit is pretty small but definitely sturdy. It comes with a single wire harness that makes the installation process really simple. It also comes with a pry tool for opening the driver side dash under the steering wheel to install the starter. A sticker is provided that needs to be installed under the hood to make anyone working on the car aware there is a remote start on the vehicle, especially considering it can be installed without the hood pin.I did search for videos to get a sense of how to pull the dashboard and the connector location prior to installation. The dashboard was fairly simple to pull on the door side but not so much on the center console side. That took maybe 5 minutes since I was being careful to not break the fastening tabs. Pulling the wire from behind the ODB connector took me about 10 minutes. I gather this wire hasn't moved since the car was assembled 9 years ago and the space to work with was nonexistent. Saying the space was tight is being very generous. After figuring out which hand to press the disconnect tab and the other hand to find the right position to get some sort of leverage to unseat the harness, there was the matter of maneuvering the connector to fully remove it so I could plug in the provided wire harness. Programming was fairly simple when using the provided instructions. Pressing the Lock-Unlock-Lock sequence on the remote works perfectly each time. The same sequence will stop the remote starter as well. I used only 1 zip tie to shorten the wire harness before closing up the dash (no need to go crazy to zip tie the unit down since its small and light). The remote starter showed up in the Settings Menu automatically where you can select the desired duration and climate setting.The unit costs $144 and the installation cost is $0. That is a great value for the money considering now I can get into a comfortable car no matter the weather, as long as I remember to use it. The fact that it works with the factory remote is fabulous. In a way I am kicking myself now because I could have done this years ago but I am also jaded against remote starters. Back in 2000 I installed a remote starter on a 1998 Ford Contour with my dad and that was pain to find the wires and splice them to get the remote starter to work and the door lock since I never got a remote when I bought the car used. I wasn't interested in paying an installer because the money I had was spent on the unit. Start-X has made this so simple that I will not only recommend it but keep this in mind with any cars I buy in the future that don't come with a remoter stater.

Install was simple, plug and play, no hassle at all.. utilizes your factory Key fob. functions perfectly. Install took maybe 10 minutes. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to add remote start to their F-150👍. Built well and very easy to install and operate!

This thing was super easy to install and works perfectly on my 2018 F-150 XLT. I bet it took me all of 10 minutes to get this thing going. The best thing is that you can use your factory key and not have to have an extra remote fob. Why anyone would use anything else as beyond me.

I purchased a truck without the remote start option and was regretting it on a cold December day. After seeing a video review for this product, I was amazed at how affordable the unit was and how easy the installation looked.It was every bit as easy and simple as they made it look. In fact, it's nearly idiot-proof!One odd thing I experienced when trying it out. I remote started it, then got in and turned the key on and then back off. The module overrode that method and restarted the vehicle. If you shut it off correctly, by tapping the brake, this doesn't happen. If you do as you're told and don't try to be a rebel, the unit functions beautifully. For that reason, I have no choice but to give it a solid 5 stars.

Installation was simple, instead of the booklet I used YouTube videos. Took about 10 minutes to install, unplug OBD2 wire, plug in t-plug, start programming the module then plug in the next set of wires. Feature worked on the first try. Haven't driven the vehicle but it seems to work fine. The TPMS will show no reading but ths booklet says this will return after driving the truck

Installed and working in under 10 mins. The instruction video is very accurate and helpful prior to installation. The instruction book is also easy to understand. Hardest part was getting a place to zip tie it up.
Easy Install
I installed this in a 2018 Explorer with no trouble at all. The preprogrammed unit brought all the info needed up on the dash after install. The instructions were easy to follow. Quick, easy and good range what more do you want.
Works in 2023 Maverick Lariat Luxury package, with push button start.
My wife got a 2023 Maverick Lariat with Lux package, but I think there was some confusion in ordering and changes in 2023 regarding remote start therefore did not get the remote start FOB. Even though can start with the Ford Pass app, it is still convenient to have ability to remote start with FOB... for example when I am doing the driveway and lots of snow, I cannot start the vehicle because my wife has the app. Sometimes the app doesn't work either.Installation was fairly simple, more time spent strapping the unit up securely out of the way since there I not much room in front of the seat to get under there. Note that this vehicle has push button start and this the instructions mention this option. I wish they would update this page and the product info to reflect that it works with 2022 and 2023 models, because the description and dates are a little outdated and feels like taking a risk ordering it.It starts with a couple seconds delay only and vehicle acts pretty much like a remote start does with no dash information and says press button to start vehicle. I did notice that if I press the Lock.Unlock,Lock sequence again it stops the vehicle, then trying the sequence again will just honk the horn and not start it. I need to enter the vehicle, press the vehicle start button, then press brake pedal and stop button, then it will start correctly afterwards. The manual actually mentions that the brake must be pressed or unexpected things may happen. I do not know what will happen if I remote start it and let it turn off on its own after 15 min and try to start again, but will try later on. I am taking a guess that it has an internal timer of 15 minutes that is also stopped when brake pedal is pressed, and I am interrupting this timer and it is getting confused when I am doing the sequence again.. .don't know for sure but others say theirs works for subsequent starts.I include awesome picture of unit sitting on floor before I tied it up under dash behind ODB port.I will say however that I had a scare installing... The first time I hooked it up I lost entire vehicle control after programming. The FOB wouldn't start it, and push button would not start vehicle, no dash lights etc. some system communication error message on console (can't remember what is was exactly) Even removing the device from the plugs on harness didn't help. I cannot describe the feeling going through my mind trying to explain to my Wife that I fried her brand new Maverick that she has been waiting months for... but after I unplugged the harness from ODB all was working again, so what a relief!!! Normaly I would just cut my losses at this point and return, but I decided to try again. I reinstalled the harness onto ODB, and vehicle is working correctly. So I attempted learning again and it works now. I believe I didn't have plugged in ODB harness securely the first attempt. So make sure you have the harness plugged in securely.
