Five Feet Apart | Haley Lu Richardson, Cole Sprouse | NON USA Format | Region 4 Import - Australia

Description:

Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) is every bit a seventeen-year-old...she's attached to her laptop and loves her best friends. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control--all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow patient named Will Newman (Cole Sprouse). There's an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Further complicating matters is Will's potentially dangerous rebellion against his ongoing medical treatment. Stella gradually inspires Will to live life to the fullest, but can she ultimately save the person she loves when even a single touch is off limits?

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a wonderful movie!

S.H. · December 6, 2024

Product got here with no problems at all. This is just the nicest movie ever. It will take a person through a full spectrum of emotion though. Fair warning. lol I don't always cry during movies.. but this one brought on the tears in a few parts. At first glance, it appears to be a teen movie.. but I would say adults will be just as pleased with it if not more so. I am 53 years old.. and this movie was good enough to where I wanted to own a copy. That speaks volumes about a movie's worth. There are so many movies made that come and go .. but when a person wants to own a copy, that says that it is a good movie. The characters are very realistic and so are the situations. The feeling was that "this could happen to anyone.. even someone I love". That is rare in movies these days. Thank you for making this one available!

but IMPECCABLE acting! Loved seeing the depth of characters that really made the difference in moving along what could have been a pretty linear storyline. Had kind of a "my so-called life" bad boy but want to be good vibe mixed with the independence but the romance of "the Fault in our stars".Ultimately really enjoyed it except for an ending that seemed too quick to be legitimate after the depth of their intertwining storylines. One of my favorite parts was when and how he declared how beautiful she was. Felt like such a huge turning point and was conveyed and acted so authentically without being inappropriate.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm in a love/hate relationship with this movie

C.R. · August 22, 2020

For the record, my rating is more of a 3.5 than it is a 4Five Feet Apart is a 2019 American romantic drama film directed by Justin Baldoni (in his directorial debut) and written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. The film was inspired by Claire Wineland, who suffered from cystic fibrosis. Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse play two young patients with cystic fibrosis, who try to have a relationship despite always being forced to stay a certain distance (6 ft) away from each other; for the sake of context, Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that has no cure at this time that affects mostly the lungs and can also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine.I'm kind of having a weird love/hate relationship with this film at the moment; my first criticism pertains to the flow of the relationship that develops between Stella and WIll.'Love/Hate at first sight' is a common cliches used in romantic films to introduce what will eventually become a couple. In this particular movie, Stella and Will very clearly get off on the wrong foot, and don't really get along. I can accept there being a change in their attitudes towards one another, but this change happened in a manner that wasn't smoothly facilitated. At no point in the film do we get a hint that Stella is starting to see something redeemable about Will's character traits, so it feels like a switch is simply being turned on and off in the background to control how well they mesh with one another. I think it would be fair to infer that this dramatic change is related to the fear these characters have of dying on a regular basis, but since this isn't explored in depth until the very end of movie, I can't really give the director the benefit of the doubt.Upon doing my own research, it has been noted by many in the CF community that this movie trivializes the reality of having a terminal illness. On one hand I can agree with this, because at times it feels like this condition is meant to squander what can be inevitable conflict in this story. In the same token, however, this film doesn't stray too far from the reality that these conditions can feel like a death sentence for some people to have. Would the quality of this movie be different if the over-zealous optimism was turned down a bit? I'm not sure, but it's just something worth pondering over.I have a very soft spot for Cole Sprouse, and I conclude by noting that his performance in this movie was emotionally powerful; the dialogue in this movie was sincere and speaks to the parts of ourselves that personify vulnerability and embraces the strength humans are capable of showing. It's hard for me to dislike a movie that moves me to tears, so for that alone I lean more towards liking this movie than I do hating it. There is still some ambivalence that meanders in the background for me, but I can't help but feel like the positive of this film outweigh the negatives at this time.I would recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent movie! A touching tearjerker.

S. · January 10, 2021

A terrific movie that I highly recommend! It’s very touching, & also a tearjerker. It will make you count your blessings & see the true value of life, when it’s so easy to take for granted. Appropriate for teens, or when your child knows the facts of life. Based on movies today, a clean flick/ family movie. A little talk of sex, but nothing risque. Just sick teens wondering what a normal life would be like. Two teens strip to undergarments to compare surgery scars. It’s nothing sexual, & no worse than seeing a swimsuit or trunks.

Tema repetido.

P. · September 1, 2021

Alles bestens
