This is a great product, I’ve used other retinols and they were good. I like That this is in an oil form so you don’t need much and I feel It’s less drying for my sensitive skin. I’ve been pairing it with the ordinary niacinamide 10% + zinc 1 and within like 3 days my skin is glowing, my pores look so small, and I also have issues with redness and it’s looking so the best ever.

This stuff is concentrated. 1% Retinol it says. I thought my skin was acclimated to this serum, but I guess not. I used it twice and now have a bit of retinol burn across my cheeks but I'm not bothered by it. I recommend starting with a lower dose if you haven't used it before. I know how eager we all are for the fastest results and that included me. I'm waiting for my skin to heal and then will continue using it. I'm hoping to fade some middle-aged brown spots. I love how affordable this product is. A department store brand at this concentration level was over $100! It really is a quality product and The Ordinary comes so highly recommended. Just buy it!

The Ordinary products have never let me down. I decided to try the 1% Retinol & so far, it's just as good! It's a bit oily at first but absorbs into my skin beautifully after about 10-15 minutes & leaves no residue. After just a few applications, my pores appear smaller, my skin is baby soft, & no irritation at all! I can't wait to see what it does after continued use! It is fragrance free & very gentle! As of right now, I recommend 100%!!

At first, the retinol worked great for my skin, I didn’t experience any irritation and everything was going well. However, after several weeks of use, I started noticing some discomfort and redness, so I decided to pause it. Despite that, I really like the texture of the product and I know it has many benefits, so I plan to start using it again once my skin is more balanced. I’m sure that, with more controlled use, I’ll be able to enjoy its effects without issues.

The difference between this and other Retinol products is that this one is a mix with squalene.Means it works without drying the skin.

Thanks to the presence of squalane, one can start using 1% retinol directly on the face at night without experiencing dryness, as the moisturizing properties of squalane help prevent it. However, in my opinion, retinaldehyde—being closer to prescription-strength retinoids—can be more effective. It may cause dryness initially, but over time, the skin builds tolerance, and the results are often better. That said, retinol is still a great option when used consistently over a longer period.
