While everyone else in the group struggled with tick bites and swatting at mosquitoes and deer flies, I came out unscathed—no ticks, no bites, no problems. What really sets this repellent apart is the scent—or rather, the lack of one. It’s not overly strong or offensive like some other sprays, which is a huge plus when you’re spending long days (and nights) outdoors. It dries quickly, doesn’t leave a greasy residue, and feels comfortable on the skin. This stuff works. Whether you’re hiking, camping, or testing your limits in the wild, Sawyer Picaridin is the real deal—effective protection without the stink or sticky mess. Highly recommend for serious outdoor use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tired of buying 100's of cans of DEET. Buy 1 quart of this instead.
This stuff is awesome. We purchased some waterfront land on the ocean in Va. and have an off-grid camp set up while we slowly build and upgrade the property into our eventual retirement home/farm. The tick, mosquito, fly and gnat populations in this area are insane. I despise ticks especially since one tried to kill me by infecting me with tick fever when I was 5 years old and another gave my son Lymes Disease and put him in intensive care when he was also 5. Both of us were sent to John's Hopkins as 5 year olds because of ticks.I also hate bugspray. It's expensive, the cans of spray don't last long enough and if you leave them sit they'll eventually become empty on their own so stocking up doesn't help much. I started looking for another solution and in 2021 I bought 1 quart of this Picaridin cream. I'm still using the same quart in 2024. Full disclosure, I was the only one in my family that had been using it because everyone else is lazy. You can't just spray yourself real quick and be done. You need to put it on like sunscreen but it doesn't take that much. I'm 6'-2" and 240lbs. I use maybe 2 1/2 squirts of the pump to cover my feet, legs, arms, neck and head. I even rub a little through my hair. I spray my shirt with some form of DEET before I put it on. That's it. It lasts pretty much all day, except the mosquitoes will get me through my shirt later in the day because the DEET will wear off. My family will go through several cans of bugspray to my 2 squirts of Picaridin. The last trip out they finally realized that bugspray actually kinda sucks. So I'm on here buying another quart because I don't want to run out.I bought some cheap rubber gloves from Harbor Freight that I've started wearing when I put on the cream so I'm not eating it off my fingers later in the day. It doesn't wash off really easy which is a good thing, especially if you are a sweater or get in the water. Getting in the water will deminish it's effectiveness but I think it sticks on to you better than spray without a doubt. This stuff also dries quickly, the feeling of it on your skin is much more comfortable than bugspray and it doesn't smell nearly as bad.Mosquitoes absolutely hate it. I've watched them turn complete 180's as soon as they make contact with me. Gnats will land on you but they will not bite. They can still be pretty annoying if you are fishing at night because they'll swarm and tickle you but they do the same with all the other repellants. It repels chiggers and ticks great but if you are spending time in the places I do, you still need to check your underwear band and the other nooks and crannies down in that area where you didn't apply anything. The value this stuff brings is undeniable. $50 for a quart that could last you years as opposed to an $8 can of OFF that will last 1 person a couple days at best and that is assuming you use it up before it dries up on its own, unused. That's it. It is good stuff. In my opinion, and I think I would know, it is more effective, last longer, feels cleaner and is way more affordable then the other altermatives. If you get into the outdoors a lot, buy a quart. You won't regret it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great repellent, awful spray bottle
PROS: This repellent doesn't smell, it works, it doesn't feel gross, it lasts all day, and it won't damage your watch. But…CONS: Just one — the pump on the bottle doesn't spray the repellent out, it spits it out in oily globs. If you try to spray it onto your legs, half of it ends up in little puddles on the floor. I don't know if I got a bad batch or if it's always like this. Come on, Sawyer… you can fix this!
5.0 out of 5 stars Only bug repellent worth buying
This is the best bug repellent I’ve ever used and the only one I use now! It has hardly any scent, blends into the skin well so it doesn’t feel sticky or greasy, and WORKS. Mosquitos usually love me and they don’t touch me if I’m wearing this. Same goes for flies so it’s a beach must.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressive - Recommended
I live in a neighborhood nestled between two wooded trenches, in a city at the confluence of two slow moving rivers. The city usually spends $300,000 a year spraying for mosquitos but this year they cut that to save money. The moquito population is currently more than 10x what it was last year according to researchers.I have been getting bitten within 30 seconds of going outside and I will get bitten every 10-15 seconds through regular bug spray, wearing a thermacell, and standing near a bug repelling tiki torch, all at once. This lotion has no smell and feels like nothing on my skin and I can go outside for an evening and not only do the mosquitoes stay away, but so does every other type of bug, seemingly. I am very impressed and recommending it to all my friends and family in similarly buggy environments.
5.0 out of 5 stars It actually works!
This stuff is the absolute BEST! We live next to a ditch and the city is constantly letting water out then shutting it off creating nice little puddles all along that side of the property which quickly becomes a breeding ground for mosquitos in the warmer months. We have spent a fortune buying up every traditional brand of bug repellent on the market as well as every home remedy we could find and nothing worked to deter those little blood suckers. I don't care how much deet was in the product is didn't even slow them down. Then I found this stuff and I could not be happier. Just a little bit goes a long way. And once I have it on there's not a single bug bothering me. Added bonus, the lotion is unscented and doesn't feel greasy on the skin, actually feels like it moisturizes. I highly recommend this product.

Very effective
Very effective in warding off insects, including sand flies, more effectively than DEET
Excellent product that really works!
I have used this product in both Thailand and Indonesia and so far it has worked brilliantly. It's probably the first time I've holidayed without the nuisance of itchy bites! It seems to last all day unless it is washed off, I didn't think about this when I went for a foot massage one evening and ended up with a couple of bites on my ankle; it's probably a good idea to carry it with you in such instances. What I really like about it is that it isn't sticky and oily like the formulas on sale in the UK. Be aware that you will need to allow around 3 weeks for delivery from the USA so order it early. It really is worth that little bit of extra hassle - highly recommended!
