While the guide does a decent job of getting the very basic of basic EV/Hybrid information, there is little to no information on higher level information on EVs. Never mind L series ASE tests are supposed to be advanced level tests, designed for more experienced and weathered technicians. I get on some topic areas like Power Electronics and Electronic Drive Systems, they won't rehash information that would be expected to know to take the test, like basic electronic diagnostics, drivetrain noises and a/c issues, as most information crosses over from normal systems vs High voltage systems. Most mechanical issues will be the same or similar.What I would expect is a more in depth analysis and dissection of High Voltage system faults. There are questions that will be asked about system faults with the High Voltage battery and High Voltage drive systems. One example is they may ask questions about voltage readings from an Isolated system. HV battery is isolated from the rest of the system. HV battery is 500v. You read 500v from the inverter cables. Why? What issues with the system if the readings were 36v? They don't go over issues similar to these. Just basic explanations of a few key components to the basic Hybrid/ Full EV system.To be fair though, most companies that ASE itself advertises services like online learning or physical self learning books that provide little more or similar amounts of information to this book. It's just irritating that you may have to seek Toyota, Tesla, Ford or other ASE preferred manufacturer training to learn more advanced information that's expected of you to know for the ASE test.

Passed my L3 with this study guide. Just be aware the tests changes as technology is changing, but should get you through. Its not loaded with fillers

This study guide is ok for basic EV/Hybrid information but is no where near a complete prep guide for the L3. I would definitely recommend a more thorough prep guide in addition to this one. This prep guide leans too much into manufacture specific (Toyota, Chevy) information. The two star rating is really only for the repetition of safety procedures which is VERY important.

The book has plenty of information, but unlike other ASE prep books, it only has one practice test and that just isn't enough to make you feel ready to take this certification. Cost wise, it’s similar to Delmar books which have several tests and have been very helpful in the past, so for the money I feel like there should have been a couple more tests.

Reading this book only won't help you pass the exam. If you know a decent amount of hybrid diagnostics and know the difference between an "interverter" and a "converter". As well as the difference between a "drive motor" and a "motor/generator."I don't regret buying this, though. It did help me prepare to know the ASE terminology for this test, which is a little different than most real-world diagnostics.

Don't buy this one! I bought and read this book to prepare for L3. The material in the book may have been appropriate 5 years ago (though I doubt that) but it WILL NOT prepare you to take and pass L3. There is a huge disconnect between what is in this book and what is on the test. This study guide should really be taken off the market.
