5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Tool for Making Sorbet
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I recently picked up this refractometer for making sorbet, and it has been a game-changer! It’s so easy to use and helps me accurately measure the sugar content in my mixtures, ensuring that my sorbets come out perfectly balanced every time. The results are fast and precise, which is essential for getting the right texture and sweetness.Beyond sorbet, I've also used it for making jams and other confections, and it has worked flawlessly. The build is solid, and it comes with a clear, easy-to-read scale, making it simple to understand the readings. The small size is also convenient for storage, so it doesn’t take up much space in my kitchen.
5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate Measurements
Easy to use. Dependable results
5.0 out of 5 stars Comes in a nice case. Seems accurate.
I tested filtered water. 0% sugar.I tested fermented water kefir (homemade) 6% sugar (apparently normal)I tested pre-fermented water kefir (homemade) 10% sugarI wanted to test my water kefir because it seems to be so sweet even after a 7 day ferment. I checked to see what was normal for water kefir that was not sweetened in a 2nd ferment. 6% is right on the nose. After further investigation that's about 3 gm of sugar per cup. Similar to a green apple.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works as well as my body does at detecting salt!
Disclaimer: Not a scientist; despised science in school. Never used a salinity refractometer before this. While visiting a relative for a week and drinking a lot of their well water, I found myself retaining water/swelling even though there was no change to my diet or physical activity and the altitude was the same there as it is at home. I got the idea to test the sodium levels in their water next time I visited.I bought this refractometer, calibrated it with distilled water, tested my drinking water at home and recorded the results. I added different amounts of table salt to my water and watched the levels go off-the-charts in the viewfinder! So, I took this with me (along with some distilled for re-calibration) next time I visited. I was 100% correct! Their well water had an elevated level of sodium. I bring jugs of water when I visit now, or they have it on hand for me…problem solved.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good
Works very good
5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Perfectly
Works as described. Calibrated it with distilled water and was easily able to take a Brix reading with no issues.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy calibration and easy to read
So far I have used sucrose brix refractometers and now this sodium chloride one. I like this design because it is easy to calibrate and check, easy to view in light and easy to clean.Checked with a few different solutions, worked great and the calibration know is stiff enough to hold a long time. For price, great value and worth it!
