5.0 out of 5 stars Good deal, good shave
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } These converted me from the hella expensive multi blade cartridge razors. Was getting to the end of my stash of multi blade cartridges and not looking forward to shelling out the cost for their expensive refills. My son convinced me to try using a safety razor after years of shaving with the usual and, by comparison, very expensive multi blade cartridge razors. I was worried that I'd have cuts all over. Turns out, even less cutting than with the cartridge razors. And on top of that a quicker shave. With the cartridge razors I'd usually go back over spots several times to get the shave as smooth as possible. With these, when the blade is new it's just one pass. Used blade might take two passes and then replace it.The cartridges I'd try and use longer, because of the cost. Of course the longer the cartridge was used the more passes that were needed to get a smooth shave.A pack of ten blades costs about the same as one or two cartridges. So I replace them sooner than I replaced cartridges and still spend much less on my blades.Plus, they seem to clog less than the cartridge style. Shaving the over grown fine hair on the back of my neck is a one pass exercise. With cartridges, even new ones, it would require multiple passes because even new cartridges would clog with the fine hairs and need to be cleared to get the hair it wasn't cutting because of the clogging.I'm converted!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, value for money.
I use it every day, so glad I moved away from those disposable razors, saved me so much money. No noticeable wear even after several months.
4.0 out of 5 stars Like it better than the lubericated plastic ones skinny handles.
2 faults, you have to take the head off to change the blade. The handle has horrid raised pointed raised things, I don't know the name of, supposed to be a design, not comfortable on the hand, totally unneeded.Looks nothing like my dad used. But it works.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Razor!
I am very pleased with this razor. Before I bought it I used a Vikings Blade safety razor. I thought it worked well but after several years of use the pins holding the mechanism started falling out. I was going to buy the same razor to replace it but I saw this Utopia Care razor for about 1/3rd the price. I have been using this new razor for about 5 months and like it much better than the Vikings Blade razor. When the Utopia Care razor tightens on the blade it bends the blade slightly and gives it a better angle. With my old razor I would get some razor burn and would frequently get small cuts when shaving. The new razor does not give me razor burn and I have only had one very small cut since I started using it. I highly recommend this razor.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good product to dip your toes into DE shaving
This was my first safety razor, as I was curious about trying it, but didn't want to break the bank. I'm BAD about getting razor rash and wanted to see if this would help, and it definitely does. If you struggle from razor rash, I say throw Bolo your 4 bucks and give this a shot. At the time I bought this, it was like $3.99 so no regrets here. I used the included blades, which seemed good enough, but I bought some Gillette blades and they seemed a bit sharper, but nothing night and day. Time will tell how durable it is, but I've used it 3 times so I've already saved money versus having to throw away a cartridge after a few shaves with my old Gillette fusion, which was like $4+ per blade vs the .10¢ or .15¢ a blade for this razor costs. I paired it with the Menesia Badger hair shaving brush for like $8 and my face has never been smoother! Ive been using some cremo shave cream that I already had, and using a brush took it to the next level but I'm going to order some Proraso next.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not safe, worst design and just unbearable to use
I have used different razors before, double blade, triple blade and double sided single blade ones. I always had a favorite one where you had the handle screw on the bottom. The design on this one is just stupid, how are you supposed to shave while the section you shave is supposed to screw/unscrew? Not only that, but I never used to get cuts whereas I got one small cut and then a very disgusting cut which made me throw this garbage right in the trash without a thought on anger. I think that all razor blades which have stupid screw right on top is a brain rotten design because you won't even realize it's being loosened up until you are royally screwed.
3.0 out of 5 stars Stay with a name brand
A bit disappointed. No match for a name brand. Simply does not yield a close shave.
5.0 out of 5 stars It WORKS !
I don't think I ever used one of these, and I'm 60. You can teach an old new tricks ! Ya know what is hilarious, my 16 Y/O Daughter uses it all the time now 🤣
Excellent. I've recommended it for my husband.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I bought this for myself; I was tired of the pink-plastic-disposable-razor-blade cycle of frustration. (Not to mention that I'm hideously cheap and trying to lower my eco-footprint).Immediate likes: the blades are easy to install, the handle and head have a really nice weight to them and the packaging makes you feel like you're an important person.I've never used a safety razor before, so I figured I would slice up my legs and underarms while swearing furiously. This was not the case. On my first and second tries, I got a couple of small cuts, but nothing more than the average pink-plastic reality I lived with before. So I was pleased, especially since I hadn't gotten over the learning curve yet. Here is where I get impressed: I hadn't shaved my legs in 6 months. Seriously. I call it 'Canadian Female in Winter Mode'. And this just did the job, quickly and quietly with an unassuming attitude. Like asking someone from Olivia Pope's team to 'take care of someone', it was done, cleaned up and looking spiffy for the next round like nothing had ever happened. For me, whenever I neglect my shaving (let's be honest: that's all the time), it can be hell to get hair out from between the blades of a multi-blade razor. And this was no problem to clean up. I also didn't use shaving cream, and instead I opted for a good 'ole bar of soap. It worked great.I've read that not all blades are made equal, so while the Derby blades that come with this have worked out well for me, I'm looking forward to buying a variety pack of different brands and testing them out. Were there any negatives? I guess the handle got a little slippery in the shower, but I didn't drop it (yet). And I suppose that when I do drop it, it could damage the tub or myself. Additionally, I've got a toddler, and I don't leave it in the shower. This sucker is sharp.
実にいい!!!
昔からある両刃カミソリのシンプルな形状で、重量感のあるところがいい。また、価格も納得できる程度でよい。
Say goodbye to supermarket razors! AND save money.
I have super sensitive skin and used to get very bad razorburn from supermarket razors. This is a fantastic first safety razor! The handle and head were simple to set up and use.I used the supplied razor-blades once and then upgraded to some Astra Blades that costs about $1 for 5 (eBay or Google them).I get a much better shave with this setup compared to any of the supermarket bought multi blade cartridges such as Gillette or Schick.Just make sure you use a good quality preshave oil, shave soap and calming aftershave balm.If you're nervous, like I was, watch some wet shave safety razor tutorial videos on YouTube.Enjoy the smoothest face ever!
Avoiding using wasteful disposable plastic razors
This is the first safety razor I have owned for many years. I got it to avoid using plastic disposable razors. The razor is all metal, no plastic. It is heavier than a plastic disposable razor and probably a little easier to cut yourself so I find myself having to be more careful when shaving. It shaves as well, if not better than a disposable razor. It is well made and good quality. Good value for the purchase price.
