5.0 out of 5 stars A Better Way to Store Your Cigars

I thought they were effective and less work to deal with storage issues. I was wrong. I saw the Joe Cool jar read what they said about their product and decided to try a couple. I own a wood cedar lined cigar box, have a cigar cooler that holds another 200 cigars and for additional storage I bought clear plastic rubber sealed containers each holding 25 cigars. When I bought a couple of Joe Cool jars I tried one in my cigar box and another one in one of my long term storage boxes. After four or five days I took a cigar out of each type of container and was surprised to find the cigars to have great humidity freshness. I continued to use both jars in the containers and three weeks later the cigars were still fresh slightly moist and ready to be placed into a dry box for 2-3 days to breathe before smoking although you could smoke them immediately. After using them for longer term storage I now had something in which to compare to my previous water packs method. The jars were just as easy to use but provided a better quality in maintaining the right amount of humidity and keeping the cigars as fresh as when I purchased them. I have now been using them in all three storage methods and they have been extremely effective for both near term and long term storage. Always having approximately over 500 cigars in storage I no longer have to worry about guessing the amount of time that a water pack needs to be replaced. With the Joe Cool jars you can look at the clear jar and know exactly when the crystals are low and need to be refilled. How long the jars last will be different for people based on how often you open your cigar humidor and the number of cigars you are storing and based on the soundness of your containers. I do know that the Joe Cool jars that I use to store my cigars undisturbed for long periods actually last a bit longer. I will never go back to using water packs because I have had several months to see how effective the Joe Cool jars are and just as easy to maintain effective humidity levels. Lastly, there’s the cost issue. Although the most important factor is to maintain humidity to prevent you from having to toss out dried and tasteless cigars, you will be pleasantly pleased to find that replacing Joe Cool crystals is much less expensive than buying the water packs. Sure you still need to monitor humidity levels as with any storage methods but for all the above reasons these jars are worth five stars.

Works well. Good quality.
4.0 out of 5 stars It works, sort of
It was ready to go when it arrived. I put it in my humidor, and it held at about 71 to 72 for a few days. Then it went up to around 76%. It held at 76%. That's too much humidity. So I have learned that if I put the lid on top of it and just expose a few of the holes, it works. It's been holding steady at 71% for about 2 weeks now by doing that. And I've already added more fluid. I used Xikar's blend. Nothing, absolutely nothing is going to work as well as a boveda pack. But that gets more expensive than this method after a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for larger humidors
Moved up from a 50 stick to a 300 stick so I needed more stable humidity for the larger area. At first it settled at 74% but then came down to 72/73 were I prefer to keep it. I'll take daily smokes and move them to a smaller staging humidor to produce a more even burn. I like these for the simplicity and reusability.
5.0 out of 5 stars So much easier to use
These crystal jars work great. They are so much easier to maintain than the original sponge that came with my humidor. Took a while to dry out all the liquid. I just put in some distilled water in with the crystals that were left, and it's back at 70+% humidity in Colorado. This lasts for weeks, no issues. The crystals seem to last a good while.
3.0 out of 5 stars Does maintain humidity
The media could not be loaded. When mine was arrived it wasn't full to the max fill line and not impressed with how humid it maintains the box at
