5.0 out of 5 stars Well built and once all the bolts are tightened very sturdy
Assembly was straight forward and after reading the reviews I agree it does scrape going up and down driveway approaches. To remedy that I have ordered a steel skid wheel and will mount on bottom of 2 in tube. Since the carrier will only be down when my mobility scooter is loaded, I will leave the hitch pin off of tilt mechanism. That will allow the carrier to raise when the wheel hits the ground so not to damage it. I added some reflective tape along the sides for added visibility. Added the skid wheel using washers and Locking nut. No more scraping! Was still not happy with how low the carriage rode so I added a 4" rise adapter. This made it perfect. If your vehicle is similar to a Honda HRV you will need the adapter.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money
This prooduct is heavy duty but was relatively easy to install. It has a few good features such as the folding ramp and a very good locking mechanism for it. The only problem we had was that one of the bolt holes didn't line up and had to be redrilled...not a super bad deal if you are a little bit handy. It does take two to lift it into place when you are beyond retirement age. The directions could be more clear...if they had been better, the hole would not have been a problem and would not have had to be drilled. One of the reasons we ordered it was the fact it flipped up when not loaded with a scooter or lugage.
4.0 out of 5 stars Wobbles with stabilizer
This carrier was well made and packaged carefully. It had good welds and was partially assembled. I loved the longer folding ramp. It was heavy and leaned to the right in the upright position. The unit wobbled and rocked even with the stabilizer. It was stolen before I could get a picture. I planned to take it to a friend that did body work. I have ordered a new carrier and bike cables with key locks to secure it to the pickup frame. I will use a key lock bike cable to secure the chair to the carrier.

2nd update to review: I contacted Bolo about the fact that the merchandise couldn't be used safely and they told me to contact the manufacturer, which I did. their site promises 100% customer service. When I called them, they refered me back to Bolo do you can see a viscious cycle. after asking a gentleman to tell me whether what i had ordered would actually work for my vehicle he asked me to send him various pics and info concerning my car. the email response told me to contact Bolo again. I badgered them until they told me that my SUV (not a small car) only had a "tongue weight" of 100 lb. So the video showing it attached to a small car is quite misleading. If you have taken the time to read all of this I wish you good luck if you purchase this rack.EDITED TO ADD: after finally having a new hitch on my SUV and purchasing all necessary equipment (wheelchair cover, tie downs and lock) i finally got the wheelchair loaded but there is no way the trailer can be used! i couldn't even leave the driveway safely. i tried it because i needed the wheelchair for a doctor appointment but it drug the ground even on level ground so there's no way i could travel with it. i have reduced the review to one star and would change it to zero if i could. in short: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!I thought I would be thrilled to use this trailer, but it's been nothing but a huge headache and wish I had never bought it. It has taken me over a month (just missing the refund deadline by 2 days) to get everything installed and verified.1. check your trailer hitch. I had one on my car (SUV) that I thought would only need an adapter part. NO. It cost me almost $600 to purchase a new hitch and have it installed. So check to make sure you have the correct one.2. check that your vehicle has the towing capability. According to my owner's manual there is no issue. But because the weight is not evenly distributed over the axle, there is still a question. the dealer advised me to do whatever I am comfortable with. I am almost 70 years old so it really makes me anxious. especially on the interstates. Here the speed limit is 80 MPH. I am nervous driving my car on the interstate even without the carrier attached.3. The video shows a lady loading a scooter onto the rack. you should never ride the scooter/wheelchair onto the ramp. instead you should use the power of the device. The video shows the rack attached to a small crossover vehicle loading a scooter. it looks so easy. I own a full size SUV which sits higher than the car in the video. I also have a powered wheelchair, which the model I have uses a larger center wheel to drive the chair and the smaller wheels on the front and back have no power to them. Because my car sits higher, the ramp has a steeper incline. I had huge difficulties trying to load it so I called the wheelchair service technician who made a trip to my home to inform me of the issue with the drive wheel and told me that I had to use more speed to make the center tire grab onto the ramp and aid in the steeper incline. when i loaded it the first time i opened the ramp and attempted to load the wheelchair. I ended up running the front two wheels off the ramp because of the speed needed. I backed the chair down the ramp. the bracket holding the ramp was bent and wouldn't lock even if I had been able to get the chair loaded. The end of the ramp was on the most level area I could find. there aren't many in utah. I'm not sure what caused the bracket to bend. It is much thinner metal than the rest of the rack so it could have been the speed or the uneven ground. but I was lucky that I was home and not traveling where I couldn't get assistance with it.4. in the video shown there is no twisting of the rack. My SUV is higher so when I finally did get my wheelchair loaded the rack was twisted on the tongue of the hitch which left it quite wobbly. I still feel anxious taking it out on the road and even more so because I will be traveling out of state by myself. I thought I was going to gain independence that I lost years ago. but after spending over $1000 for the rack, cover for the chair, having the hitch changed out on my car (mine had a 2inch ball on it) straps to secure the wheelchair and locks , etc. I think I may have made a mistake. On a much minor issue: I imagine the ramp being on the passenger side is considered safer. But where I live there are few streets where the ramp is needed to unload on the passenger side. Most parking lots have the option for vans to unload on either side and in my driveway it would be much easier to have it on the same side as the driver, eliminating either going into the neighbor's yard or having to walk back and forth around the vehicle to unload groceries, etc.this has been quite lengthy but I wish someone had pointed this out before I spent so much money and now may be too anxious to use it. it has taken me over a month to get everything purchased, installed so I could even try to use it. To date, I haven't even had it on the rack long enough to leave my driveway and I missed the return window by actually 1 day. I hope that I can actually get it loaded, strapped down and take a short trip to be sure that I can use it. to avoid headaches, anxiety and ending in the poorhouse with nothing to show for it, -please do your research and verify everything to make certain you can use it when it arrives.
5.0 out of 5 stars Mobility scooter
Works great for my mobility scooter. Don't have to disassemble in order for my husband to load in our pickup. Easy on and off.
3.0 out of 5 stars Seems okay, but get professional install...
The locking options to get it set into the hitch don't look great. When I fold it up, it's lopsided even though it's level when extended. It's really hard to get in and out as it requires bolts to lock and level, so I have to leave it in all the time. I like to use my scooter if possible, but sometimes I need my elec. wheelchair, and I have to bother friends or family to come over and use tools to install/remove. This is necessary because if I have it installed, the backup proximity alarm is triggered at all times. When folded up, it blocks the backup camera. So I want it off unless I'm going to need it, which isn't all the time as I have a lift for my scooter. Also, since there is such a high slope on the ramp, my wheelchair can't make it up with me on it. It's hard to steer by an able-bodied person. There are no sides, so the chair has to be set with tie-downs (more pain). But by far, the worst part is install/removal. It does work like a regular extended platform, so if that's all you need, this would work. Hopefully you'll have better luck with the bolts and the lip of your hitch receiver.
