Years ago I used to use some of the original MetRx bars. They were nutrition dense, hard to chew, and not the tastiest things around. My old standby bars keep going up in price & I was looking around.Seeing the MetRx name, I was curious. This is a 30g protein bar that also has substantial carbohydrate. What the low-carb folks do not understand is that muscles REALLY need to reload glycogen (a storage polymer of glucose) after working out. That means take in some carbs! This bar tastes more like desert than nutrition. Yes, there is a good bit of sugar, but again POST WORKOUT that is not bad! It provides a READILY AVAILABLE supply of glucose to your muscles.These bars are expensive, but as a meal-replacement especially after working out, it seems worth it. Also realize that people are different (I am speaking as a physician), and their response to various diets, medications, etc will vary. I am one who does not function well with restricted carbs in my diet, I tend towards hypoglycemia. Years back (while competing as an endurance athlete) I went through a phase of low carb intake. I could not train hard enough, and it clearly was not compatible with intense races. So THIS bar FOR THIS ATHLETE is an excellent choice. YMMV

This is one of the better flavors they offer. The taste is great without being overly sweet or artificial, which I really appreciate. It’s satisfying, and most importantly, it actually keeps me full between meals.The macros are solid too—high in protein with a manageable amount of carbs and sugar. It fits perfectly into my routine whether I'm post-workout or just need a convenient snack on the go. Definitely a repeat buy for me!

I mainly use these when I forget to bring lunch to work, need a fast breakfast, hiking/camping, or before donating plasma for an easy low fat protein boost.Favorite Flavors:🔥 Super Cookie Crunch – My go-to! (Super dry)🥣 Granola – Solid choice for hiking. (As dry as any other granola)🍏 Apple Pie – A nice change of pace. My husband and I order these in bulk. They are a great replacement meal when we are on the go with 30 grams of protein and only 338 calories (if you ignore net carbs and calculate with accuracy, they are more than the 310 calories advertised).They are large for a protein bar, will satisfy hunger, are low in sugar, and we have never had a bad or malty batch come to us, even in the heat of summer. They are a little expensive, but worth it for us as we both aim for higher protein. The main “con” I would give it is that it does taste a little - off? Chemically? I think there is a sugar alternative in it, which is what I think I’m tasting. Typically I try to stay away from those, but it’s hard to find a bar that can leave me satisfied/not hungry, has the protein I want, and taste perfect. Overall, it’s a pretty good bar.PS Their cookies and cream bar is my favorite. It just has nearly 100 more calories for the same amount of protein.

I never leave the house without two of these - a complete meal with zero fuss and preparation.It matters when you live in an area with earthquakes every four minutes on average.Sure, we don’t actually notice 99% of them but, having two of these meal replacement bars in my ruck will be tasty when we do.If I can’t get back home for a day or four, not a big deal with plenty of water, MetRx bars and a good pair of shoes always in my ruck.I forget how many “bars” I’ve tried in the past decade of camping and hiking etc but, these are the only ones I have never gotten tired of…the churro flavor is king.

So the flavor of this bar is delicious it tastes like fruity pebbles. It IS a little sweet (has 23g of sugar) I feel like I’d need to be in the mood to eat it and 550mg of sodium. The 30g of protein is great. 380 calories per bar. Decently filling for me at least. Makes me quite parched so drink water when you have it.

Not expecting them to taste incredible but I have to say the Vanilla Caramel Churro tastes horrible and ruined the whole purchase(might return then if I could be bothered), Super Cookie Crunch is good, Peanut Butter Crunch is great.
